Default connection with weight and hair issues

I was wondering if facial and body hair is more of a problem with PCOS victoms that carry more weight. I was reading some of the posts on the Thin Cysters board and most of them say that if they do have excess hair it is only "mild". I am slightly overweight and don't consider myself thin. (5'2"...130 lbs) I think that at my age (25) and height I should weight 100-120. Anyway I have excessive hair that I consider to be more than mild. However, not as severe as a man would have. More like a teenage boy going thru puberty. I recently lost about 10 lbs (was 140 lbs) thanks to Yasmin. I've just finished my 3rd month with Yasmin. I have noticed that the hair is much finer now. I don't know if it is from the Yasmin or if it is because of the weight loss. If I lose another 10-20 pounds will the hair go away? Or is it a curse that will never go away no matter how much weight I lose. Anyway the main question I am asking is: Does the amount of excess WEIGHT you have determine the amount of excess HAIR you have?

I personally don't think it is due to how much you weigh. I think it has to do with your testosterone level.
Some of us have a higher testosterone level than others, which causes some of us to have more hair.
But several types of medications help with the hair, so maybe the Yasmin helped you.....maybe you could ask your doctor if it was due to the Yasmin.

I agree with Ericka, hair growth doesn't have anything to do with weight. Right now I am an "average cyster", I'm not stick thin, but not heavy either. When my PCOS first started I was really thin, and hair issues were my 1st symptoms, I'd say it is really about the same even though I've gained 15 lbs.

Typically BCP do help somewhat with hair, some are better than others and some women take spirolatone for excessive hair, although you shouldn't take this if TTC.

HTH,

Kim
