Considering PROACTIVE for your ACNE? CLICK HERE to see what other cysters had to say
Many cysters are curious about whether the acne treatment PROACTIVE will work to clear their skin. Below are some recent threads on the topic. Overall, it seems that most cysters report having a very positive response to using the products.
I didnt go through all those threads so I don't know if this was said or not, but if you try using the Proactiv and find that it helps out great for a little while and then seems to stop working like I did, it seems to help if you switch between that and another face wash. I use the ProActive for a month and then switch to a facial cleanser from Avon for a few weeks to a month and then go back to the ProActive. It seems to help me a lot to do that.
I get the acne on my chin that really hardens and leaves the red spot/scar for months where it was, not to mention another two or three would pop up on the same area, it was just awful and embarassing for me and it seemed like it took a month for it to look better at all. So I decided to try ProActiv, at first after 4 or 5 days it really dried my skin out BAD and then peeled some, so I only used it very lightly every other day till the dryness stopped, then afterwards it started to work so well, I couldn't believe it was my own skin, even the blackheads disappeared, the toner cleared up the scar, and that masque was awesome, the compliments started pouring in, then I saw the new pro activ on ebay it's "extra strength" I bought it just to mix it around and try, and I'm continuing to have awesome smooth clear skin, however, I gotta say if you start it -you have to really keep it up, especially with having the pcos acne! I ran out once and didn't have it for a couple weeks and my skin automatically went back to looking horrible and starting to break out and get really, and I mean really oily. But anyway, I sincerely Hope this helps someone who may have the same problem I did.
I have been using it for 3 days now and have noticied improvement in my skin, it is very expensive but its working for me so good luck to you all and i would recommend it.
i have used proactive for almost 2 yrs now...i stopped briefly when i moved bc i couldnt afford it..but it is the only system that clears up my skin..and i decided it was worth the investment!! if anyone has any questions about it..i would be happy to answer them.

I used it(Proactive) for about 2 years before I started having PCOS problems, but I have always had horrible skin. It worked great, I had beautiful skin, until I developed an allergy to the benzoyl peroxide in it! All of a sudden ! My eyes would swell up and I was red and had hives on my face and neck! So now I can't use it anymore. It was the only thing that ever worked for me though, so I'm back to horrible skin. If I could go back to it I would! Anybody wondering should try it, at least.

I had always wanted to try it, but it was SO expensive! I found a site...www.acne.org.
Go there and they have a great plan. It is EXACTLY like proactiv, but it is using individual products, not a group. Products you buy right from the store. Neutragena, Cetaphil, etc, etc...
You are using the same active ingredients! It has worked well for me, and it isn't nearly as expensive!

I had a very bad experience with proactive. The acne actually got worse & it was painful. My sister had the same reaction, it got so bad that she didn't want to leave the house for about 2-3 days. It could be because we both have sensitive skin though, being that it did work for my cousin and my co worker. The best advice I can give is to apply it on a small section, for about a day or two to make sure that you don't get a negative reaction. Good Luck & I'm glad it worked for you ladies
I used Proactive for 5 months- it worked great. I was having those large cyst- like zits in my face, and it really cleared them up. I ran out a week and a half ago, and bought AcneFree at Target. It is suposed to be the same thing, only cheaper (It's a knockoff!) I am so broke out again The proactive is worth the money, I am going to get it tonight.
My daughter uses the generic version at CVS and it works just as well. I read the back of both and they contain the EXACT same ingredients but it's cheaper.
Jenn i have been using the same thing the same product i started out with avon stuff and it took a good two weeks to work but when it worked it took all the redness away. then i have been using proactive for about a week or so and its had to makeing the zits smaller but they have not gone away. but i am still using it. sometimes i feel that my face brakes out more but like i said i need more time to exsperment with it. but i know one of my best firends had acne and he had really really bad acne he went to the specail doctors and everything but he tried proactive and he lookes great his face is sooooooooo smoth it looks like he has never had and zit in his life i am so jealous. lol
I Used Pro Active For About 2months And It Worked Fine At First. My Acne Was Clearing Up But The Only Problem I Had Was That My Old Acne Scars Were Getting More Darker And Permenent. No More Acne And Redness But More Scars. Looking For Support In Nc. Anyone From Nc?
Proactiv never did anything for me. A few years ago, a friend recommended a product called Obagi. That is a miracle drug, I swear. But it's so expensive here in UK I can't really afford it anymore.

I was going to try proactive, but instead I started using Melaleuca acne wash(melaleuca.com) If you can, try their stuff.....I'm a preferred customer and cannot live without their products, but you can find their stuff on ebay. I only use a dime size amount(the first few times I used more and my skin dried out big time), and my skin has significantly cleared up, but I still have the dryness, redness, flaky skin in the chin area that I'm working on..... I switch back and forth between that and Nicole Miller facial wash....I get breakouts, but they are not as bad and clear up in a week or sooner as opposed to months and months of horrible skin!!! Like I said before....I just want to wake up one day and have clear, hair free skin!!!!!
