I didn't read through all of these messages, but I didn't have a pleasant experience with Proactiv. I used it for about a year, trying to ride it out since it helped so many people and thought everything was temporary. My face broke out a lot, and it seemed to age me a bit too. I don't remember, but I think the cleanser or something was an exfoliant? I'm finding I'm sensitive to stuff like that, so that might be why.
In lieu of that, I'm sure it's a great product. But if you have sensitive skin it probably won't be the best thing.
Most cleansers dry out your skin alot, so a moisturizer is needed afterwards.

I have tried Proactiv. It wasnt the best. It worked a little, but i had better results with University medical kits from Walmart. WIth that kit and epsom salt , I hve mostly regained clear skin.
I started Proactiv in Nov 08, in the hopes that it would clear up my face before returning to work in January 09. It has done just that. In fact, co-workers who knew me before I went on leave, have flat out asked me what I've been doing as my face is so clear.
I rarely get a pimple, and when I do, they clear up within a few days. The majority of it overnight with the refining mask.
My skin feels smooth and fresh, and my make up covers all scars.

I used this when I was in high school and it worked for me. I stopped using it though. Once I was on birth control I didn't have as much of a problem with acne. Now that I'm off bc it has been really bad. Along my jaw and right under it I get the red oily under the skin acne that hurts and just looks really bad. I hate the fact that I cut my hair short b/c I can't hide it as easily. I'm red and blochy. So I'm going to start using proactive again and see how it works. For those of you thinking about it I was on the website and the have a 30 day trial size for 19.99 plus shipping.
I realize that Proactiv has worked wonderfully for some... Yet for me, it worked for about 8 months and then my cystic acne came back with a vengeance, worse than before I had started it. Not to mention the BP wreaked havoc on my face -- fine lines, super dried out, but still breaking out. I will never use Proactiv again. It took me over a year to try to sort out my skin after Proactiv.
i had used proactive for 4 years(basically my entire university years)
before i had small bumpy acnes on my forehead,
and mild acnes on my cheeks and chin,
and after using the product for about 6 months, i've been getting compliments about my skin getting clearer.
after a year, my skin was all cleared up!!!
so i quit using the product, and the pimples came back, so i had to order some more,,
and used it for another 3 years.
people have been complimenting my (over)glowing skin, and eventually, i stopped
using it since i get pimples only occassionally.
only negative aspect about the product, is that, benzoyl peroxide make your skin
more sensitive to the sun, and using the product for 4 years without any sunscreen
(ouch!!) got me some brown spots..
now i use sunscreens everyday, but it's kinda too late for those spots.
proactive sure can make wonders, but make sure!!! to use sunscreens before going out.
i also have used neutrogena and clinique benzoyl peroxide products and proactive worked better for me,
plus, they have this green/blue toner which i really liked.(i still use the toner!!)
Proactive was the only thing that helped me. The first month it kind of dried out my skin but after that it has been smooth sailing. Ever since being diagnosed with pcos, I have never had such clear skin. It even cleared up my blackheads! Definitely worth trying out. I know what it is like to have bad acne and then in turn have poor self esteem. Like anything, proactive can have different outcomes for different people. It worked for me and it might work for you!
I have tried it, and it did wonders... for about 3 months... then... my acne came back and got even worse then before! I was so disappointed. I still think its worth people getting to try, but I think my skin got used to it. Hope this helped someone!
i have tried pro-active and it made my skin worsttttttttttt!!!! d only thing that ever worked 4 me was roaccutaine prescribed by my dermatologist (which is very expensive but insurance covers it) however a year after d acne came back....as someone wit PCOS we have 2 continue 2 treat our skin so i dont think we will get something dat cures ur skin....now i am using an inexpensive cream called nadinola and for some weird reason its doin very well with my skin so my skin has been very calm 4 the past month
I have had acne since I was about 10 and NOTHING worked. I think part of it was getting older (I'm 28 now) but proactive has been great for me. For the first 6 weeks or so it made my skin horrible, but then it cleared up and has been pretty great since. I can only use it once a day because my skin gets dry, and if you skip a day it'll start to make your skin bad again, but it has worked very well for me.

I have mainly cystic acne and proactiv did nothing for me. I like the mask, but for my particular brand of acne/combination skin, it didn't really help. I also strongly dislike being sent a new set every month as it dried my skin out so much that I still had half the kit left when the new kit arrived. I won't use it again mainly because of their sales system. If you don't have cystic acne, it sounds like it works. I also feel that I have moderate to severe acne and this may make a difference in why it didn't work for me.
