Default Considering putting plans on hold

I just found out we got my State approval today and our homestudy is being sent to the BCIS (formerly the INS)!

I'm glad that we are now approved, however I have a new twist in life to contend with - I recently became pregnant (had my first U/S yesterday and saw a heartbeat). I know it's still early and I feel blessed that we have the options, but now we have to decide - do we try to speed up the adoption process so that we can hopefully have our apdopted child in our home before the baby is born or do we put our adoption plans on hold for a while until after baby is born? I'll be working with my social workers to try to sort this one out. One thing I thought of - what happens if I have to be on bed rest in this PG? Then I would be in trouble if I sped up the adoption. I think the homestudy and State approval is only valid for 18 months.

I want to go for it early as we have waited a long time to have a child - decisions, decisions.

Just my thoughts for the day......

Hi There...

Congrats ! first of all are in order

I guess you really have to consider all the factors that come along with Panama adoption right now...do you have to travel to that country to pick up your baby ? how far along with you be when the adopted child comes home and how old will the adopted child be ? and then read on the affects of the adopted child with the bio child depending on the age... for instance if you adopt a toddler they tend to require ALL of your attention until you get them established in the home and if you bring in a bio infant you know where your attention is going to go !

I would be makin a list with pros and cons...

My SW told me if I were to conceive not even to tell her until I was certain the pregnancy was going to progress (so in the "safe" zone of 4-5 months)...becuz ya just never know what can happen !

You have a tough choice ahead...think of what is best for ALL parties involved whether they are here or not

{{{{ hugs and good luck }}}}
