I was diagnosed with PCOS on Aug 2nd of this year. Prior to this, I was diagnosed with anxiety & OCD which I take 40 mg Prozac for daily.
Once diagnosed with PCOS - I began taking metformin (I'm now at 2,000 mg daily) and I had to take 10 days of provera to induce a period. Well - after the 10 days, I started on my Yaz birth control pills. However I should mention that I've been bleeding heavily since taking the provera, and it's been this way for almost a month now with no signs of letting up.
Ever since I've started taking the all this medication, I have felt SO tired, no energy, no motivation to do anything. It's horrible and affecting my daily life!
All I can think about is sleep, sleep, and more sleep. I used to enjoy going out, visiting with my family, but now, every little thing seems like a chore to me. It's even to the point where I have to force myself to eat, just so I can take my medication! It's just been horrible.
I've felt this way before, but it was because I was depressed. I certainly do not feel depressed in any way right now, I just feel exhausted.
Could it be the Metformin or the BCP's that are doing this to me? (This is my first time taking BCP's).
I'm starting to wonder if I'm anemic from bleeding so heavily for a month now, or just in need of some B-12.
Any thoughts?

I'm not a doctor but, how long has it been since your last real menstrual?? In the past (obviously) I had gone like 9 months without a real menstrual, went on BCP's for the regulation and OMG it was like Niagra Falls! For like 4 1/2 weeks. My doc took me off that BCP. So deffinitely Call your doctor! They need to know, all that bleeding can cause anemia and that's something s/he needs to know about. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks so much for the replies...I have gone years without "full" periods. There would always be a little spotting, but nothing that I would ever call a period.
I figured that I would be bleeding for a while due to my lack of periods, but this just doesn't seem normal. (But maybe I don't really know what "normal" is???)
I called my doctor's office about a week and a half ago and told them what was going on. The nurse talked to the doctor, and the doctor just said to "keep doing what I'm doing" and that it was okay. Problem is, I don't feel okay.
I guess if this doesn't improve in the next week or so, I'll make an appointment to go in and see what's going on. I just hate to feel so...what's the word...comatose??? lol...

It might be a good idea to have your iron levels tested, and also, those meds can reduce your levels of some vitamins like B12, folic acid, B6..etc. are you taking any multivitamins?

AussieJul - thanks for the reply. No - I am not currently taking any multi-vitamins though I have thought about the B-12 for energy.
Perhaps I will go this week and see about getting a good multi-vitamin to help. I still think I'm going to go to the doctor to have my iron tested. I just feel so weak and tired.
I hope this all subsides soon!
Thanks for all the replies!
You're all so wonderful!

I also agree that you should tell your doctor, but as for the energy CoQ10 is REALLY good for energy- it's primarily used for heart health, but it has really worked for me. I take 300mg. daily, however you can take as little as 50mg. Good luck sweetie, and feel better!
