I was just wondering if anyone else had had this problem. I feel as though I need to go All the time, It's non-stop. It's also worse when I lay down. I have had a UTI before and it always hurt to go, this however only hurts after I go. It kind of burns and sometimes I feel sharp pains. Any suggestions on what it could be? I'm making a Gyn appt today but I can't stop worrying.
Thanks!!
Abby

Relax, it sounds like a UTI. They have different sensations, even for the same person. Drink a lot of liquids. When I had a UTI, I said, "Darn it, if I have to feel like I've got to go all the time, then I'm going to go!"
Thanks Eponine...but the doc did a test for UTI and it was negative. They're sending a culture to the lab they said it would be 24-48 hours. I feel as if my bladder is going to explode it is worse at night...on top of it all I start a new job tomorrow and I won't be sleeping very well. Oh well!
Thanks again,
Abby

Hmm.. how long has this been going on? I've had similar symptoms happen to me a few times before, where I get the burning sensation after I empty my bladder, and it feels like you have to go again almost immediately, but the bladder is almost empty. Both times I kind of assumed it was a UTI of some sort, but it went away on its own before I got annoyed enough/ had enough time to go to the drs - something like 3 to 5 days. Then I came up with an alternate theory... both time it happened had been after... ahem rather enthusiastic bedroom sports. :o So I began to wonder if maybe I just managed to sort of bruise something from the inside out... it seems to match up with the feelings I get sometime when I suddenly have to go afterwards, and I know the angles have lined up to have DH "poking" things in the right area. Something to think about... or at least something inconsequential and easily remedied (time heals all) to consider while you're waiting for the actual test results.
__________________ I'm back! Had lots of problems around 2002, gave up persuing treatment when Drs had wait and see attitude. I now have an endo - yay! On yasmin. Also diagnosed with slight hypothyroid - on low dose synthroid.
I had that to.However when my test came back it showed some sort of bacteria, causing the pain and frequent feeling to urinate.I suffer from frequent urination now.No pain but frequent, especially during the night
I have this from time to time and it seems to be much worse around my period. Sometimes it feels like my bladder is in spasm and if I lie on my belly, it seems to help. I have had frequent UTI's in the past that were treated and it didn't really seem to affect this particular symptom. I know you can have a neurogenic bladder but I'm not sure what exactly it is. Maybe a nervous bladder. I thought that it might have to do with hormones and adrenaline (i have a problem with tachycardia which my cardiologist says increases the amount of adrenaline in my body). I take a beta blocker and Ativan for this. When it is really bothersome, I have taken Ativan and it has stopped so I have no idea what it is and every doctor I have been to doesn't either.
Does it seem to happen more when you are revved up about something or had an exhausting or stressful day or during your premenstrual cycle? Just curious is anyone else associates this with higher levels of stress or hormones???
