Default Constipation on bcp's

Has anyone experienced constipation while on birth control pills? I started noticing this about 9 mths ago when i started a new birth control pill. I also started calcium supp. around the same time. I stopped the calcium supp. but still no relief. any help would be helpful. I have an appt. soon so hopefully i will get some answers

thanks

I have found that I have to exercise more on BCP in order to remain "regular". But that's just my observation for me. Do you take a metamucil daily or anything for fiber?? That always seems to help too.

Well i had a dr's appt. today and that is what she told me. That i need to exercise more. I don't take a fiber supplement. WHat do you take? I was hoping I could just increase my fiber intake, but it would be easier to take a pill

thanks

When I first started BCP about 11 years ago, I became so constipated! I had never experienced that before! lol. I never imagined BCP could have caused that. I mean, for a long time, nothing helped! Not fiber, laxatives or exercise...I guess my body finally got used to the horomones and I got some relief. I read somewhere that horomones can affect your colon. Anyway, a good, high fiber cereal every morning helps...I feel your pain..I hope you feel better!

I usually eat a Bran cereal in the morning and sometimes if I need a boost I'll put some benefiber in cereal, coffee, etc. I also eat Activia everyday - for some people it works - makes me regular. I also drink lots of water and exercise. You'll be surprised how much better you feel

Don't try everything at once though - like furrygirl, start with a good bran cereal in the AM
