I've been getting blocked up on and off for the last few months. I'm not sure why as I'm getting a good amount of veggies and over 25g of fiber each day. But for some reason I've only been taking a crap every 3-5 days. Anyone have any ideas to provide some relief? I have tried fiber pills AND ex-lax and even that hasn't helped me.

grapes, apples, bran cereal, bran muffins, drinking more water...?
Try any of those? Is there a lot of pain when you do go? Where are you on your cycle?

I just came off my period, but since it's been happening for months I don't think that has anything to do with it.
I already drink about 100oz of water a day. I have tried apples and grapes (have both in the house, but don't eat them each day.)
I eat Kashi cereal so I am already getting more then enough fiber.
When I do go it usually makes me sick because I haven't gone in so long, and I go 5-6 times that day with diarrhea. Not really painful just uncomfortable.

I've not been diagnosed with IBS but I do believe I go through bouts of it.
I do have several large cysts but as far as I know they haven't given me any problems other then random pain.

they could be bothering your bowels...or it could be IBS. Maybe asking the Dr to check you out might not be a bad idea? If for no other reason than to be comfortable when you do go and to be able to go regularly.

Well I see my general doctor next week so if raisin's/prunes don't help I'll certainly mention it.

I've had a similar problem recently. I've been drinking two cups of prune juice. One of the girls recommended drinking a cup of coffee occasionally.
It seems like you're eating really healthfully have you thought about indulging in something terrible, like greasy pizza. when I was on the met, that always worked.
Good luck, that's a crappy problem to have, or lack of a crappy anyway, lol, I'm nuts tonight.

Actually I do eat pizza once a week from Dominos so that isn't helping me.

two things come to mind. the first is, are you lactose intolerant? sometimes lactose intolerance manifests itself in constipation. my second thought is that you might need more oil/fat in your diet. good oils like olive oil or from flax seeds?
Could be. I've been keeping under 30g of fat a day. Today I was 41g though.
I use olive oil whenever frying or cooking on a skillet.
I'm not sure if I'm lactose intolerant. I was as a kid for a while (when beforehand I could live in milk) then it went away. Now I enjoy yogurt, ice cream and the occasional glass of milk (like once every few months) It doesn't get me sick like it used to, more like a sick/bloated/sleepy feeling. Plain milk only gets me feeling that way.
I just don't really want to change what I'm eating/doing because it's working with my weight loss. But I guess I should worry more about calories and carbs then fat??
