I wonder if any of you can recommend a consultant, preferably a Gyne as opposed to an Endo. I am in Berkshire. I do have private health cover and would happily travel to consult with someone competent.
Hi I am in Berks too. I saw the consultants at the Royal Berks Hospital.. they have an NHS clinic which is what I went to, but they also do private patients. I would recommend seeing an endo opposed to a gynae as they (well, where I went) were much more clued up on PCOS than the gynae, and they run special PCOS clinics. I cannot recommend them enough.... Dr Elsheik (spelling might be wrong) is fab and there is another dr too Dr Ghosh... and the dietician there is fantastic and very inspirational! I really really cannot recommend them enough.

the one i recommend, who saved my life (twice over, once by spotting the diabetes and once by stopping me from ending it all myself), is an endo. his name is Mark Vanderpump and he is on the PPP list (don't know about bupa, sorry). He is WONDERFUL. He cares, he does tests and scans and, when he has finished diagnosing your problem and prescribing what he can (by writing to your doc so you get an nhs prescription, not a private one!), he will send you on your way, rather than carry on pumping your insurers for more money. can't recommend him highly enough. he's in london, though.

Metformin destroyed my digestive system
Now on Avandamet, which is a wonder drug. Can't recommend it highly enough. Ask your doctor for it if you're worried about Metformin side effects.
I also have ME, hence the "tired" user name.
Contemplating hysterectomy but have to lose weight first.
I would recommend Dr Raj Rai of St Mary's Paddington. He is actually a reproductive immunologist.
