Unhappy Consultation failiure

Well, ive just come back from my consultation of PCOS, and im to be quite frank annoyed and humilliated.
I explained my problems and she examined me, i didnt feel any compassion or care at all, i needed to know more, i asked questions and she told me to come back and have MORE hormone tests when i start my period again.. She dismissed that i was in pain and depressed i feel like i dont want to go back at all, will any doctors actually help?

Arghhh! Anyone else had the same situation??

Sasha

I'm sorry to hear, I hope she's gonna be more careful next time or you should probably see a more qualified doctor who knows something specific about PCOS... don't know where you live and how easy it is to find one...I live in Denmark and quite honestly I have no idea where to go... we have one doctor whose famous for knowing something about is and involving food in the treatment...but honestly :S ... anyway, I also felt like my doctor just thought I was nuts for thinking I might have PCOS :S she just kept saying that it was only overweight people who gets it and that I wasn't... but she took blood samples, and they turned out to be just like they should be :S and so she took a gynaecologic test...and again said all was fine... :S and you're just left feeling like som freak... because you know for a fact that something is very wrong and she just tells you all is fine... but I don't think she tested my insulin level... and she oviously didn't seem to know alot about PCOS... sooo... but she did however send me to a qualified gynaecology and then I'll just wait and see what she says... if she says nothing's wrong too I'm gonna have to go and ask for the test results of my bloodtests and ask for a insulin check! I don't wanna go around without some kind of diagnose to hold on too...

Hi,
Knowledge is the best defense! I would do as much research as I could and bring articles that support my ideas to the doctor. Some may be receptive, but some doctors just aren't that great at dealing with people. I got lucky with mine!
Good luck!

Sadly a lot of doctors are like that anymore. I spent a long time being told I was having panic attacks when in reality they were ashtma attacks. The doctor's defense was I was not wheezing, but asthma runs in my family and I had a history of frequent bronchitis issues etc. When I managed to see a pulmonary doctor after a lengthy battle I was told I was not getting the oxygen out to wheeze. After a long battle with steroids I was finally able to breath easier. Just hang in there and find another doctors if you need to.
