Default Continuing BC for 2 months straight?

I just started taking Ortho-Low again after a couple years of a break. I have never continuously taken pills for two months straight, but have heard about it, so you skip your period for a month. Has anyone else done this? I wouldnt do it often, I just figured that the timing for this month is not the best and would like to have a bit of control over it. Any advice? And if I would do this, would I just start taking the next month's of pills and skip the sugar pills?
Thanks for your input!

Well, this may be later than you wanted it to be, but I will tell you what my OB-GYN told me....
Take active pills for at least 3 weeks, Don't go for more than 12 weeks without having a period. When you have a period, go off the pill for exactly 7 days.
She wrote my Yasmin perscription so that 4 packs was a 3 month supply...

You can either skip the sugar pills or stop taking the active pills one week earlier so you get AF a week earlier. I've done both and I prefer to do have AF come earlier instead of going 6 weeks w/o it. I had mood swings toward the end of the 6 weeks.

HTH~
