Continuos BCP Use

Here's a short rant......

BCP's have been used continuously by many practitioners for many years for patients with endo, heavy flows, convenience of their patients, etc.... Most of these "new" extended and continuous use pills are not new. They have older even generic (cheaper) counterparts with the same active ingredients. The "new" pills are all about marketing (with the exception of Yasmin/Yaz which uses a unique progestin).

IMHO the fact that there is no data on the effects of continuous therapy is bull. If someone really wanted to collect and analyze the data I'm sure it's out there to do it with.

That said.... I'm extremely happy with my continuous bcp regime which uses cheap generics. It does take 4 extra packs a year.

Anybody else do this? How has it been for you?

I used to do it to avoid pain. But its mentally comforting to me to get a period every month.

I've been doing it for a few years now and I love it. I'm able to plan when I get AF so that if I'm on vaction I don't have to worry about it. Hoping I can continue had some issues with Yasmin, hoping that I won't have any trouble with a new pill. I didn't on my old one, keeping my fingers crossed!
