Question Continuous heavy bleeding

I'm just wondering what if any stopped your continuous bleeding. I just bleed and bleed even on bc. I was on Depo Provera shots for 9 months, and I still continued to bleed. I was prescribed Premeran and it stopped the bleeding, but the dr didn't want me to take it for long periods (no pun intended!!) and once I finished taking them, I'd start bleeding again. I have been to numerous doctors and I still bleed heavy with huge blood clots. I am a cyster with no cysts on my ovaries, just all the other problems...I'm just tired of bleeding!! I go to the dr tmrw, so if anyone has any suggestions I could throw at this new dr I'd really apperciate it!! I'll keep checking.....

I had the same problem when I was first diagnosed. I was told that the Depo can actually make it worse. The doctor actually put me on a double dose of bcps for a couple of months and started me on Met. That was the only thing that stopped it for me.
I wish you the best of luck.

If you click on my fertilityfriend siggy, you can see how the last two 'cycles' sucked. My Doctor decided at first to put me on BC pills for 3 months to regulate me and to try to get my period to go away, but after 3 days I became super dizzy and sick to my stomach. I had NEVER had that reaction to the BCP, so it was a total shock. I called him up and told him I was stopping the pill after 3 days. After that, AF came back SUPER heavy, with HUGE clots. I was actually hemorrhaging and became really weak. After 7 days, AF finally left. I don't know what it was, but I have a feeling it was those 3 days of the BCP that brought on a 'real' AF. My Doctor had told me that if I continue to bleed though, that a D&C might be in order though. Have they mentioned it to you yet?

I did have a d&c before, but it did not help. I was still bleeding HEAVY a month after that's when the dr decided on Depo Provera..I've been in the hospital with an IV pumping Premeran into my veins, all it did was make me sick to my stomach, and bleed heavy. I've been on Yaz, some birth control that starts with an O that my insurance did not cover, that was a $50 waste, Provera, Depo Provera, Premeran pills. Provera and Premeran stopped the bleeding while I was taking them, but a few days after, HELLO AGAIN!! I was also on Met, UGH, horrible side effects the first week, and I just stopped...I'M SO SICK OF BLEEDING!!!

She prescribed me some Femcon, and told me to take the active pills for 3 months, and on the third month, take the inactive pills for a week, then start back on the active..I have to do this for 6 months..I need to find a PCOS dr, one that can tell me what I NEED to lose weight, so I can get all this in check. My husband was telling me I need to exercise, it sounds all so simple, but do you know how it feels to have blood gushing out of you everytime you move?? UGH...F'n men..

Hi yw23, I have non stop bleeds - I got a personal trainer & a nutritionist for 2 years to lose weight & control the bleeding - it didn't help. I gained weight. Go figure.

I really don't think BCP is always the best thing for us to do.

Exercise is soooo hard - you feel weak all the time. You need to get that bleeding under control first!

Good luck!

Hey!! This is how I found out that I have PCOS... I started bleeding in Feb. and went to the OBGYN in April. Thats when this all started. I was bleeding heavy with blot clots the size of my palm!! He put me on an estrogen replacement tx for 10 days. It stopped my bleeding for two days and then I had to have a vaginal ultrasound on my ovaries and I started bleeding again. I called the nurse and she told me that it was normal and I should bleed like a normal cycle and it should stop. It took a week and half to stop bleeding but I did... I CANNOT remember the name of the estrogen but I will see if I can find the bottle tonight when I get home and let you know what it was. Of course now I have had a little bit of spotting and I actually passed a blot clot yesterday morning but I havent had the really heavy bleeding like I was having before... afraid to move around b/c I might bleed all over the place. If I cant find the bottle I can always call the pharmacist and see... so check on here later or in the A.M. before you go to the doc!! Hopefully this will help you too!!

I understand completely. I just stopped bleeding after almost 8 weeks of it. They put me on double doses of progesterone.

About the weight, have you researched Byetta? It's now being used for PCOS and has a lovely side effect of weight loss. There is a thread on here called Byetta Club, it's under PCOS Treatments and Conditions/Misc. Medications.

Very informative.

And yes, men always think it's simple. Women are never simple

Good luck!

I went through that as well, I bled for 2 months straight. At first the dr prescribed Provera but after a 5 day course nothing changed so she suggested I start b/c again but I almost finished a pack and no change. She finally prescribed Diane-35 another type of b/c which did the trick!
