Default Contraceptive Options

Hey all! So I was "Officially" diagnosed last week. I was told 4 years ago that I probably had PCOS and was put on Metformin. I never had a natural period with the met but I do have a wonderful two year old! This time around, an ultrasound confirmed my beautiful ring of pearls and I was given a script for provera and one for met.

My question is this...since my daughter was born, I have tried 4 different BCP's and the ring have not been able to tolerate any of them. I've been off any kind of BC since January and have never felt psychologically better. My drive is back and I feel good. However, I am in no position for another child right now but I kind of want to go back on the Met to help with my weight issues. Are there any kinds of contraceptives out there that anyone suggest I try???

Any help is much much appreciated.

Have you thought about an IUD? I guess it depends on if you plan on trying for any more children in the next couple years.

Or Depo-Provera? I know nothing about it, but it's another option that's not a BCP or the ring.

I wouldnt really suggest depo because alot of crysters have tried it and it made there PCOS symptoms worse. Maybe talk to your dr. and see what you can come up with?

I never wanted to go back on birth control after taking it in college and found condoms to be a perfect solution. I do have some latex sensitivities, but there are several non-latex options out there.

PLEASE stay AWAY from the depo shot!!! I did it years ago in high school and it was HORRIBLE. At first I was happy because I missed my period one month (which I had heard it can do) and then I got the AF from hell for like 3 weeks straight and kept on spotting for weeks after that. I was SO emotional and hormonal and it was awful.

Condoms are always an option of course. There's also spermicidal jelly or sponges. Personally I can't use those because they upset me...um...down there...but I know a lot of people who use them with no problem. They even have the jelly in pre-filled applicators.
