I had a cortisone injection in my hip about a week and a half ago. I know that steriods can cause an increase in blood sugar. I am supposed to get a fasting sugar, insulin and do a glucose tolerance test @ my convience. I wanted to go in tomorrow, but I am unsure how long the steriod will affect my blood sugar. Does anyone know if it would be out of my system by now? TIA!

I think it should be okay by now but you might want to wait a few more days to be sure. Your best bet would be to call the doctor who ordered the test and ask.

Yeah I know. I just wanted to get it done tomorrow and if I am going to get it done I wanted to hold my Metformin today. I may just call tomorrow and try to do it later in the week.

Dh was on steroids for his lungs back in October. His glucose levels were very high. I am not sure how long it stays in your system though. Maybe you should ask your Dr. You don't want to go too soon and them think your diabetic even though it may be from the cortisone. | |
