Hi, I used to get them occasionally when I'd have a bit cyst on my face (don't get them much anymore). But let me tell you - the stuff is amazing. Within a few minutes oft he injection - the pimple is already half the size, and it's pretty much gone in a few hours. Just leaves a red mark. I would get the injections if I had a special occasion or something the next day. It only hurts like a needle for a split second.

Thank you Keily for the reply. Where did you get the injections? Dr office? It sounds amazing. Any side effects like scarring?

Nope - no side effects or scarring or anything. When I was living in NY I saw a dermatologist that would do it in his office - you would have to call around to see who does it - I think most up-to-date docs probably do it.

I had them for my cystic acne when I was a teenager (around 25 years ago). I still have a lumpy chin but I honestly think it would have been even lumpier without those shots from my dermatologist.

I want to warn all of you about these injections...when i was dealing with my acne I had a problem with a few cystic zits that would show up and last for a week or more. my dr. would give me cortisone shots, to help...they worked like a miracle and when my acne came back aagin a few years later, i went to a new derm, cause my insurance changed. this new derm really cared and advised me not to get these shots, which i wanted . and showed me a picture of a woman who had shots done and there were pin hole deep scars in her skin like deep pores. he said drs dont care if you have these scars later. he said they some just want you happy now, they dont tell you about these scars. do a google search under images and look up cortisone shots scars. I have some, right where he injected me luckily they are on my jaw and not infront of my face. I would not get those shots again and try antibiotics, the new derm. gave me cortisone pills and tolled me to pop one when i got a cyst that was big and painful they worked wonders !!! without the scars!!!!

I tried to Google search images of cortisone shot scars, but couldn't find any.

I would rather have the cortisone shots than take the pills, needles don't frighten me as much as pills do. I didn't have any scarring from the shots, though I'm sure it is possible.

It is also possible to have a bad reaction to pills - my mom ended up with her blood sugar going way too high when she was given prednisone (a corticosteroid pill). I knew something was wrong when she was acting like a combative, paranoid crazy woman, we had to take her to the emergency room. The doctor said she should have been in a coma from such high blood sugar. He was convinced that prednisone caused her to become diabetic and it came close to killing her.

Not trying to scare anybody away from the meds just trying to warn what happened to my mom after taking corticosteroids for about week.

Whatever you take, read up on all the warnings and side effects.

wow , thats scary. I would just stick with something else. I loved the shots..im not trying to freak everyone out. I just was shocked when the new derm tolled me that and showed me the picture. he actually had it enlarged and posted , taped to the inside door of a cabinet. my husband said wow!!! i was so freaked because I had already had a series of shots on my jaw from cystic acne. .. the scars are small but look just like the ladys scars on the photo!!! so now i just deal with the cysts, which i just got a new one on my cheek. my skin has mild acne...but i do like every month get 1 cyst...i always freak when i get them thinking they will lead to more and more. anyhow the scars are small and little, maybe the scar is worth not having a crater from a cystic zit? although my cysts zits just deflate and get a hard little bump that i can feel but not see on my face. sorry about what happend to your mom. it seems every thing has to have some kinda bad side effect...it sucks I wish we could have a no side effect treatment!!!!
