Question Cost of IVF in Ontario

Hi ladies,

I wasn't sure whether to post this in the TTC forum or here, but seeing as I'm asking for specifics about Ontario, I figured this would be a good place to start. DH and I recently found out that we may have to resort to IVF with ICSI in order to conceive. I would like to know if anyone has undergone IVF in Ontario and what the cost was. DH is an employee of the federal government so I think we will get some coverage there, but I'm not sure. Any info and/or experiences would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Julie

Hey there I am in ontario and recently did some research on ivf. I found a clinic closest to me and priced, it was in london. It was estimated at 10,000 for the procedure! I s alot of money but if ya have go for it and I wish you all the luck. Take care.

Hm I was just at the clinic and was reading the "cost" board and the straight IVF was like $3200 then add your ICSI and meds to that and you are looking at over $5000.
Hopefully your DH's company would soak up some of the costs of the meds Good Luck !

I just recently did IVF and it was $5500 for the procedure, for ICSI it was an additional $1500, For my Puregon it was $1000, HCG Trigger $50, Progesterone $400, Estrace $30, & antibiotics $10
Freezing for my left over embryos with 1 year storage was $700.
It really does vary from clinic to clinic but most clinics are somewhere near the $10000 mark with medications.

They quoted me $9500 at my clinic, for IVF/ICSI including all the drugs.

Thanks you so much for your responses everyone! I guess we need to start saving right now "just in case". I'm really hoping dh will get some coverage from work, but I guess we'll have to wait until we know for sure what is going on before we look into financing options. Thanks again!

If you were looking at the University clinic in London, they have a web site which gives the costs for procedures but not including the meds. I think it was around $5500 plus meds. I was a patient at the University clinic and we have severe male factor plus my PCOS. With there being no guarantees, we ended up using donor sperm and are now expecting in January.

I wish you all the best and good luck.
