Hey Ladies..
I did my second week one run today. I was so tired and cranky, but I thought, if I don't do the run, I am going to be more unhappy with myself!
I will do my third run on Wednesday or Thursday, and this weekend, start week two!!!
I am trying to be positive, you ladies are all inspiring, but since I was diagnosed with pcos, I have never really seen the scale move, no matter what I do. Frustrating!

Hello! I'm so glad I found this thread. I've been contemplating starting this for a couple weeks now and even downloaded podcast! I'm not sure if its the right one though. Which did you download?

Lull: I made my own playlists instead of downloading them. What did you end up doing?
Nina and Welsh: How's is going? What runs have you done today?
I'm headed for my second run of week 3 today, I'm excited!

I'm doing my last run of week one tonight. So far so good. I picked up some new earphones for my mp3 last night, so we'll see if they work a bit better.
Question for those of you doing early morning running (or any other exercise). I get up early, and hit the treadmill, or outside before dh goes to work, so he can be with the kids. I haven't been eating. I hop out of bed, and get on it. But this week I am feeling really run down in my a.m. workouts. I have been tired in my p.m workouts too, but really bad in the morning. It isn't a head issue (me not wanting to exercise). This has been a physical lack of energy. I'm trying to figure out what to do. I think the obvious answer is that I need to eat. But I don't think I can run on a full stomach. And I don't want to get up earlier than I am to allow an hour to pass after eating. (I'd be getting up at 4:30 LOL.) Any suggestions. I'm trying to think of some light options to eat that wouldn't sit too heavily in my stomach.
Kat, have you had a chance to start this week?

Lullaby, glad you are with us. I downloaded a few of the podcasts that are on a link in the first post on this thread. They aren't great, music-wise, but help with the timing. I'd really like to try to do some of my own instead.
Are most of you using music to time your running invervals, or a watch, timer etc.

Welsh: DON'T run with a full stomach! I made myself puke once doing that, lol.. Try to find a small snack with some protein to eat real quick so you have some energy.
eta: I have enough in my iTunes library to find songs to suit the length needed for the walks and runs. That way I run for a whole song then walk for a whole song, etc.

Eewww, puking isn't fun Vanessa. That's why I don't want to eat first. But I am seriously out of steam this week. Wondering if something like the Special K Protein water, or a little bit of fruit, or nuts or something would do the trick. I've been fine without for 2 months now, but all of a sudden I'm wiped out. Maybe I've just finally turned the intensity up.

Yes, something like that would probably be perfect. Just don't run after a stack of pancakes woth bacon and eggs, lol!

How is everyone doing? Has everyone started week one yet?

Nina: DId you do your 3rd run? I totally get what you were saying about being even more unhappy if you skipped it. FOr me, it would make the whole day a bust if I let everything slide. If you get your exercise done, at least that's one positive thing, right?
I did my second week 3 run yesterday and did really well! I threw an extra three minutes on the end and it was challenging but fun! Last W3 workout is tomorrow!

Thanks for that link for the podcasts - have no sound on this laptop but will check that out later on my son's machine - as I'm getting bored of my MP3 stuff and a lot of it is odd beats to run to! That's such a great resource.
I'm doing a 5K for charity in July, and am on Week 9 of this UK version of a couch potato-5K:
Am running 5 days a week from this week on - but I started with 2-3 days a week, and 5 may be a bit much but I had a week off with wisdom tooth extraction (didn't want to dislodge the blood clot with too much exercise too soon) - and my race is on July 6th. I'm raising £££ for cancer research in memory of my dad who died of cancer last year, and you wear a number on your front but can have a picture/the name of the person in whose memory you're running, on your back. This will be my first ever 'race' (although it's just a fun event - they happen all over the country every summer, and you can just walk it, no pressure to run).
I've done GirlsRunToo before (2 years ago when I lost 40lb!) and think the running was the biggest contributor to weight loss.
Used to run with my doggy - a staffordshire bull terrier but sadly, he died the xmas after we had been started GirlsRunToo programme. (He wasn;t a girl but he loved the running!) Miss running with him as he made me feel safe passing all those woods, and on the remoter stretches of road. By the end of the programme, I could run for 40 minutes with a one or two minute stop in the middle, but more usually, ran 15 minutes, three times, with couple of minute rests. So I just wanted to say to you you're doing a great job and stick with it - these programmes work! I'm 46, and used to love cross country and long distance running at school, but then never ran from age 16 to age 44. So if even I can do it, can't be too hard! I remain a VERY slow jogger.
One thing I have is a little baby backpack with my water and a showerproof coat in - in case it rains (not unusual in June in England!) Only problem is, I live in a rural area with no pavements, so have to run on twisty and turny country lanes with lots of blind bends and traffic going national speed limit (70mph), so it's not the safest thing to do but if I wanted to run round a park, I'd have to go 7 miles to the nearest city! So envy those of you who can run on pavements, or through parks.

Well I was all set to start this week, but guess what? My NEW treadmill is STILL broken. This is the second time a tech has come out to install a part, and it's still a no go. It's 90 degrees here, so running outside is out for me, unless I start getting up earlier to run in the morning (which I might just have to do...) UGH. i SO wanted my treadmill fixed.
In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through you all!

Kat-does your gym have Treadmills...or is it strictly a spin gym?

The new Y I'm going to join has treadmills but it's 20 miles away, so I don't really want to drive that far to use the treadmills
The gym I've been spinning at for the past couple of weeks has treadmills, but not too many. Every time I'm there, they've all been full. Plus, I only signed up for a month to try their spin classes. They really only have one good teacher, so I'm more annoyed than thrilled when I go there.
The other thing, too, is that I kept thinking, 'Any day now, my treadmill will be fixed!" I never anticipated I'd be without it for over a month. I'm BEYOND annoyed. (While I'm kind of undisciplined about a lot of things, when it comes to fitness, I like to have a 'schedule' and regular place/way to workout - espcecially when it comes to things that I'm likely to avoid...)
That said, the new Y 'does' have Trekking classes, and several other classes that sound good, so I'm going to sit down today and work out a plan... I prefer to spin later in the day, and run in the mornings, but I guess I'll have to make do until my 'mill' is on the mend...

I fell ya on the heat, Kat! There's no way in the world I could even think about running outside in this heat. I was only able to do 2 days of C25k training so i'm gonna start over tomorrow.
But a quick question...for those of you running on treadmills, what is your speed? I tried to do 5.0, but after 30secs I was so winded I had to slow down to 4.5 and that speed seemed to help me get through the next 60sec run. any suggestions?
