Red face Could this be gallstones?

A few days ago, I felt two pea-sized lumps on the right side of my lower abdomen that was also painful when I applied pressure. Also, the top half of my pubic region felt hard and swollen and painful to the touch.

Went to the doctor today and would you believe it... the lumps and pain had subsided considerably over the past few days... didn't even feel them when she was examining me... felt like such an idiot and she thinks that I'm a hypochondriac now ("I hope you're not checking every part of your body now... you're only 29... I really don't think there's anything wrong with you..."). I also got results from the 2-hour GTT today showing that my glucose level is normal - I was so convinced before that I'm on the way to becoming diabetic because I feel thirsty most of the time, have on and off tingling sensations in fingers and toes, blurry visions... Anyway, rather than looking pleased with my result, I looked really surprised. (I'm beginning to think that I'm a hypochondriac too now! :o

Anyway, she diagnosed me with IBS after the examination. Fine with me since I already thought that that's one of the things I may have. I'm now going to be trialing with taking 2 capsules of good bacteria and drinking a small quantity of aloe vera juice daily for a month to see if I get any relief.

However, I'm now beginning to think that maybe I do have gall bladder problems. I felt the tiny lumps on the right side again and the hard swelling on the top half of the pubic region - and both felt painful (although just a dull pain) when pressure is applied - in case it makes any difference, this is after all the nye's celebration and feasting! I went to the dr. this morning before eating anything.

Am I being paranoid? I feel quite embarrassed to go to my dr again as I "seem" to have cried wolf once too often....

I don't think it is gallstones.

Sounds more like lump(sp?) nodes swelling.
I have these on my sides and under my jaw and ear.
When it is time for AF it gets much worse.
No DR has ever commented on them other than "Swelling of your glands"

I believe mine is related to internal infection or hormone balance.
Or both.

Someone once told me that I shouldn't worry about cancer because it(cancer) doesn't hurt to the touch. Like that is a relief.

If your gallblatter started to act up, I believe it would be much more sudden and painful.

Good Luck,
Patty

Do you think it could be a cyst on your ovaries? That seems more likely? Especially if it is something that comes and goes...not a constant pain.

My mom currently has bad gallstones, so I've been looking into it. The symptoms you describe don't sound like gall bladder problems.

I'd probably go along with the swollen lymph gland theory unless you develop any other symptoms.

Hope that helps.

The gallbladder is nowhere near the pubic bone. It is up around your stomach area and they do an UPPER abdominal ultrasound to check on it. So, if you have swelling and pain near your pubic bone it is something else. Could be a cyst, or a lymph node. Gallbladder pain is pain that "travels" and it most likely will "Travel" upward to under the shoulderblade area.

I had passed some minor gallstones earlier this year so I never had a severe episode but it was considerably painful for several days off and on.

Wrong place for your gallbladder. It's just barely under your right rib cage. I've unfortunately had 2 dreadful attacks in the last couple of weeks and have to get an ultrasound of my gallbladder next week looking for stones.
Does sound more like ovary pain.

Thanks ladies for your prompt replies.

As I can only feel the lumps and dull pain when I actually apply pressure on them and as they seem to come and go, I'm not going to worry too much about them for the moment. However, what I'm going to do (new year's resolution) is to keep a diary of my symptoms, food intake, exercise, when AF comes, etc. and see if there's any pattern to all these.

Also, I'll have something more concrete to show my dr. rather than just relying on my memory only (which is probably deteriorating as well along with everything else

Your pea-sized lumps can be fatty cysts (lipoma) or Sebaceous (Epidermoid) cysts. I have 10+ all over my body, at various depths, on my back, sides, and more recently on my belly.
Annoying, but not dangerous. Often hereditary to some extent..
