Post could I be diabetic?

Hello

I was just wondering if I could be diabetic.I have always been a person who needs to drink a lot so much so that my mum got me tested for diabetes when I was a kid. Lately I have been noticing that I am feeling thirsty frequently and have to drink a lot. I also have to go to the toilet frequently but I think that's cause I am drinking lots of water. LOL.

I was home for Easter and eat lots of sweets and junk foods so I'm thinking that may have caused my problems also. What does everyone think? Does getting tested for diabetes involve lots of needles cause I am scared of them.

Unfortunatly, none of us can tell you if you are a diabetic or not. Only your doctor can. The frequent thirst and bathroom thing COULD be a sign, but it could be something totally unrelated. If you are concerned, call your doctor.

The test will invovle needles, but only a few blood tests.

Scarlet, please get some lab work done. It's only takes one needle to draw blood, and trust me, after being a terrible whimp about needles myself, I have grown quite used to them over the years! It is better to know if you are diabetic now so you can get treatment. Waiting only prolongs the problem and makes things worse. It's really worth the pin prick.

Dee,
Yes, I think you should retest. It is possible you are IR but your dr isn't telling you. Be sure to ask what the values(numbers) of your test are.

Don't accept that everything is within "normal" limits. Some times you can be borderline, and the dr doesn't deem it necessary to tell you. As a result, over a years worth of time not thinking anything is wrong, you can be actually becoming IR or diabetic.
