I just found out I have PCOS last week, and have been having a hard time coping with this news. How common is depression in those with PCOS? I really haven't been in the mood to do anything, and the first few days upon finding out I was very teary-eyed and would just cry unexpectedly.
I'm currently on Yaz, but I have a history of having my BCP changed in the past because of horrible side effects of certain BCP (moodiness, low sex drive, etc.).
I can't give you exact stats on PCOS and Depression, but depression in general is very common. It's my belief, that if you're wondering at all, and it's at all possible, you should check in with a counselor. It certainly can't hurt, and it might well help. Even if you're not depressed medically, getting diagnosed with a chronic health problem like PCOS can be a big deal (it was for me), and chatting with someone about it isn't a bad idea.

Take care of yourself.

I was very moody after I got my diagnoses. I had to adjust to a new vision of life.
I also have depression, but that took months to come about and had relatively little to do with my PCOS.
Have you been just moody from the time of your diagnoses? Or has it lasted longer than that? You may want to check in anyway, it can't hurt.
Good luck.

Hi! I don't know any statistics on PCOS & depression, BUT I will tell you that from my own experience, I have been very down since I was diagnosed w/PCOS 1.5 months ago. I have gained weight, I don't care about work (I am usually a high performer), I don't care about school (I am getting my MBA), and I feel like this is all my life will ever be for me. I feel like I'm never going to be able to have a baby...I just feel hopeless because I want to have a family, maybe even a big family, and now I feel like I my body is broken. I am hoping this will pass...I am usually a very positive and ambitious person - I've just been in this fog - I need to find balance soon! Hope you can find it soon too!
