Default Could I have PCOS?

I'm 18 yrs old, and I haven't ever had a regular period since I first got it at almost 16 yrs of age. I currently haven't had my period for 3 months. I also believe I have undeveloped breasts. I don't have excessive facial hair, or any of the other symptoms i am aware of. I asked my doctor I f i could have PCOS and he said, no because I looked too normal. Plz help.

Honey, get another opinion! You might not have PCOS but just because you look "normal" doesn't mean anything. There are a number of reasons why you might not be having your period. It's hard when your doctor doesn't take your concerns seriously. Welcome to the boards and explore, you might find out yourself whether or not you have PCOS. I wish you well!

whether you have pcos or not, if you've missed your period for 3 months, you should see a doctor. it could be pcos, or something else. any doc worth his salt would want to find out why it's missing -- and what can be done about it.

Default Get another opinion!

A lot of women don't get some of the more obvious symptoms till they are in their late 20s or even early 30s. If that dr. had seen me at 18, he would have said the same thing, but he would have been wrong. I just didn't have a lot of obvious symptoms then. Get another opinion!

(((unsure)))

I was in the same boat as you. I got my first period at 12, but after a few months they started disappearing until they were almost non-existant, when I did have them I would bein so much pain I would literally have to miss school because of the meds they put me on to help with the pain. AS great as my fmaily doctor was, I never knew about PCOS at the time and he didn't either. I wasn't dx until 7 years later 2 months before my 19th birthday.

Please go and get another opinion, doctors are getting more and more educated over the years about PCOS. there is one out there for you.

Good Luck and welcome to SoulCysters!

(((Hugs)))
