Thumbs up Could someone help me please

Hello

I have PCOS but I think I might also have thyroid problems, I have always has problems with my hair (falling out excessively) and dry skin, V. tired etc. I got my thyroid tested two years ago and my doctor said it was borderline (5.8).

I had it tested again yesterday because I now have more new symptoms - period problems, hot flushes, stomach problems and when my stomach is not bothering me too much I have excessive hunger.
It really is getting me down.
What I am worried about is the fact that my doctor wil probably say it is still borderline, I just dont think I can cope with these symptoms anymore.
I dont think its fair that everyone can be borderline with the same result.

What I am wondering is does anyone else suffer stomach problems with this, Or I am just a rare case

Can anyone give me advise on what to say to my doctor I think its because I am not overweight he refuses to think this might be the problem.

Please Help.

Oh no... you sounds like a classic Hypothyroid. If it comes back borderline, you need to tell your dr to give you a referral to an endocrinologist. I had the same thing happen... my regular dr tested my thyroid (I was complaining of anxiety, depression, hair falling out, acne, and chronic fatigue) and my thyroid came back 'within' the normal range. ugh. He prescribed me Paxil which also has the added benefit of making you gain weight (lovely). A year later, I wanted to get off the Paxil and get my PCOS under control so I requested a referral. My endo tested my thyroid and it came back on the low end of normal. He said that that combined with they symptoms I'm complaining of qualified me for treatment of hypothyroidism. I feel like a new person since being put on the meds... seriously. I feel like my old self again. So I urge you to be proactive about this and *make* them treat you... even if that means putting up a stink about seeing an endocrinologist. {{{HUGS}}} and I'm sorry you feel so crappy right now... I've been there.

Default new ranges

The new ranges are from 0.3 to 3.04. Your tsh of 5.8 is certainly out of the target range. I would go back to my doctor and talk to them again.

I know you probably feel bad and you need to be on some meds.
Hope you get straightened out soon.

If your doctor doesn't repsond to your request go to a different doctor. It might help to take them a copy of the press release showing the new reference range.

You are definitely hypothyroid and being treated would help you a ton!!!

Luck.
