Default Could we get a 'Make-a-Wish'?

PCOS has put me in a lot of pain, and had limited me from experiencing many normal joys of being a teenager. It's no cancer, but definitely a debilitating disease.

Shouldn't we, like, be able to get a 'Make-a-Wish'? Or at least something like that. A neighbor of mine's daughter has a blood condition (it begins with 'W'...err...will something) and she got to go to Disney World with a childhood illness foundation.

Any thoughts?

no...it has a lot to do about lifestyle modification. It is the number one factor...once that is done and symptoms don't reside then you would take whatever medication there is for the symptom you are having. You don't die from it unless you are insulin resistant and not monitoring your blood sugar.(which can develop diabetes and could cause you to get sick enough to die if not monitored) The only way to monitor your blood sugar is eat right (low carb, lean protein and plenty of veggies and some fruit) and/or supplement with a medicine to lower your insulin (for example; metformin)

make a wish is for kids who are terminally ill. PCOS is manageable and not terminal.

What aspects are debilitating for you?

No, I don't really think it's as bad of a disease as cancer would be. Sure, it effects everyday life, but not nearly as much as cancer does.

I agree with you Nikki. I certainly think PCOS is manageable, and we all have to do what we need to do to manage it, whether it be controlling it with healthy eating and exercise and/or taking the appropriate medicine/alternative remedies.
