I really need to get in for some counseling. I'm having difficulty dealing with my life right now. Anyway, my DH is deploying soon, and I have no one to really watch the children, while I seek counseling. Not that DH could watch them with his schedule anyway, but I was wondering since I have never actually talked to anyone, if counselors have a place to watch children?

It depends on where you go, some places have a small play area that your child(ren) can play during your session and someone will keep an eye on them (usually the receptionist). A lot of private practices don't have that but larger complexes do. Look in the yellow pages and see if any have a website that could tell you if they have any sort of childcare or call around. If you go through your county center for human services they could help you find one too. Good luck.

Any other military wives that could watch them for a bit? I know when my dh was in the military and deployed, the commander's wife had organized a sort of support network for that type of thing. You could call another military wife and leave the kids with them for a bit while you had a bit of time to yourself. At some point you'd return the favor. We didn't have kids when dh was in the military but it was a nice way for those who did to get a little "time out" for themselves and still keep it low cost.
I went to a therapist for a bit previously. The one I went to didn't have anything set up for children. When I took my DD it was complete mayhem and I wouldn't exactly have called it counseling. It's hard to focus on yourself when you have to worry about the little ones. She did in her office have some toys however. Good luck!

I would suggest talking to your GP or even the counselling office about suggestions to help you with caring for your children while you go to counselling. Surely they have some advice they can give clients who are full time carers for their children. It mustn't be easy for a counsellor to do their job with a client if the client can't focus 100% on the session, so they'd offer some kind of solution.
Give a few places a call and see what they suggest. I'm sure there is SOMETHING out there to help you.
Thank-you. Because of things happening in my life so quickly. I called the GP, who has weekend hours after I posted this. I got a therapy session this morning at around 8:00 AM.
Thanks again,
