I started counseling today. This week I am going to work on breathing. Every morning I will get up and do deep breathing, in addition to when I feel anxious.

Breathing worked really well for me. It's great that you've got a practice schedule because you've really got to practice it or it won't start coming automatically. Get yourself as relaxed as you can be (comfy chair/bed, good temperature, think pleasant thoughts) and practice practice practice! Then when you start the breathing when you're anxious it brings you back to feeling calm. You're like, oh yeah, breathing, that makes me feel relaxed, so you get that extra *bump* that's mental in addition to the physical response to the extra oxygen.
Thank you for extra add advice .. I sure my dr told me that today .. but all I heard was work on breathing. I thought it was interesting that I always thought by breathing faster I was taking in more Oxygen ... but it is just the opposite. Dr suggested to hold one nostile shut to stop taking in some much air or just get a brown bag. The brown bag should get me some atention!!! Ha Ha

I am seriously considering going to counseling. In fact, I might call today. I never wanted to be on medication. I thought it would be best to try talking to a therapist first and see if it helps but at this point, I'm willing to try anything because I can't stand feeling like this anymore. So, it sounds like it is working for you so far. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes and if it continues to help you.
It took me a long time to actually start meds. I was finally convenced to go on them because they make counseling easier to go through. Eventually I have been told I might be able to come off of some of them as I learn how to cope with my fears.
Today - Did breathing exercise when I woke up. I am feeling pretty good this morning. Thinking about taking DD to the local park. Hmm ... we will see if I can get out the door.

Ok we made it out of the house and to the park (one block up). We were out for about an hour, I am so proud of myself. It was a pleasant surprise that a few of my friends were already down there.

The best thing I did for myself was to see a psychiatrist. I will also be going to see a therapist starting november 3rd.

Tomorrow I have my phone interview with SSA and then counseling on Thursday at 2:00 pm. I am doing a lot better with the court case behind us know. Between my DH getting harassed and court case well it just made me snap!

YAY! I see both a therapist and have also started to see a physciatrist (for meds). I hope you are able to talk things through with a person who knows what they are doing ((HUGS))

I'm off to counseling tomorrow. I have a list of things I want to talk about. A couple of days ago i did not even want to go back. Felt a bit embarassed after bearing my soul .. etc. Anyways, I am going to see this through.
