Default A couple of ?'s about Type II and Glucose Monitor...

Hello everyone. I was diagnosed as being Insulin resistant in May of this year and was put on Gluc. I am currently taking 1000mg soon to be 1500. My question is at my latest Dr. appt. my GP asked me if I have been checking my glucose every day. I said no, I wasn't aware that I needed to. And she said that I should be checking it once a day. So she wrote me a prescription for a Glucose Monitor and test strips. At the bottom of the prescription it said Dx DMII I didn't notice it at the time so didn't ask her, but as far as I know she has not diagnosed me as being Type II diabetic, so I am confused. I'm wondering if maybe it was written strictly for insurance purposes or if she is just failing to tell me something. I was going to post the results for my GTT tests but of course cannot find the copies I have, and can't for the life of me remember what they are. So anyway...on to my questions. As I said, she wrote a prescription for a glucose monitor and test strips. I purchased those last night and came home and tested. My first test was 95...is this a good number? It had been about 2 - 2.5 hours since I had eaten. Also, when is the best time to test, and should I be doing it more than once a day?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i was just dx with type2 diabetes a month ago..so i am new to this.
normal blood glucose should be between 70-140, and i believe anything above that is diabetic.
i test when i wake up, before each meal, 2 hours after each meal, and bedtime. your sugars change all the time...up and down. but you should stay in the normal range if you are not diabetic.
you don't sound diabetic to me and i hope you are not! i would just check throughout the day just to see what numbers you are getting.
good luck!

95 is great!! I just wish that mine would get there so we could start ttc.

Mine are between 146 and 191. fluctuates ALL day long. Its horrible! I'll be going to an RE on the 22nd to get put on insulin to help.

Just to let you know, IR is pre-diabetes, you need to watch carefully so that you can monitor this. I'm assuming that your dr. put that down for Insurance purposes, as if you aren't diabetic it wouldn't cover your glucose monitor.
