We're in the process of trying to get the bio parents rights terminated. It's a loooooong story as to why we have to terminate ourselves. Basically we got screwed in the whole deal and our options were to hire an attorney or let her go into foster care and risk losing her. Anyways. DH got deployed 6 weeks ago for a year. We were able to get our homestudy done before he left but weren't able to get into court. So I go tomorrow to "prove up the termination". We're just praying that neither the bio mom or bio dad show up. I really don't think they will but you just never know. We've got the ad litem and the investigator from CPS on our side. Assuming things go as planned our attorney will go ahead and file for adoption next week. So we're praying that Maddy will be legally adopted before Christmas! I'm so excited!!! I just wish DH could be here.  Oh well. Hopefully after we get all this finalized the kids and I can go over to Germany for awhile.

Good luck in court, i know in this state the judges take the opinion of the guardien ad litem over the other parties almost exclusively.

Thanks everyone!!! Everything went very good today! The judge signed the papers before we even finished giving testimony! Jessica and Chris no longer have any parental rights over Maddy. Hallelujah!!! AND next Thursday, Nov 15th we're going back to court to finalize the adoption!!! On Maddy's birthday! What a special birthday it'll be! I'm so excited, I just wish Jason could be here to celebrate.

congrats thats excellent news! I know how hard it is dealing with courts and bio parents. Maddy is so lucky to have a wonderful family who loves her so much.
