I was diagnosed with PCOS about 7 months ago, i took met for a while but it was making me sick, so I stopped taking it. I know that was not my smartest move, i am working myself up to start taking it again, my endo dr. wants to move me from 1000 to 1500 mg a day. I am a little weary. but my ? is, I have had cramps for over a month now and no menses at all, they seem to be getting worse daily, does anyone else experience irregular cramps like this?
Hello and Welcome!!!
I don't really have much to add on your cramping.
The only time I cramped for a whole month without AF showing up, I was pregnant.
Could you be pregnant?
I don't think it's the Met. I took it for over a year, and it never made me cramp unless my AF was coming.
Good luck to ya!!!

I have been wondering the same thing! My doctor said that you don't get cramps with PCOS, which I think is a crock. I have them consistently for days at a time, with no pattern. I don't get my period, unless I go on Prometrium, so it has nothing to do with that. Sometimes my cramps are dull, and other times they are sharp pangs. Hmmmmmm... I hope someone can answer this!

I take metformin and they cause me to have cramps when i have a period. I also get cramps and the runs when i get nervous while on it, or eat certian foods,

When I was taking Seasonale "properly", that is, having a period only once every three months, the cramps would start during week two of the first month of pills and slowly wax and wane, but get ever worse until I finally would have AF at the end of the third month.
Bad, bad Seasonale!! My hatred for levonorgestrel and this particular method of taking it will never cease! Nevaaahhh!!

Well I know how you feel. My doctor put me on Glucophage last year to try and get pregnant. Well it made me really sick, and I had to stop taking it. I haven't had a period in almost a year. And I cramp really bad somedays, and not others. I have been cramping so bad this past week it makes me cry. I need to go back to the doctor, and see whats wrong. But the cramping has always been one of my problems.
Did your Dr. do an internal untrasound? Do you know if you have cysts on you ovaries? Not ALL women with PCOS have them, but it's very common and they're really nothing to worry about. They do cause cramps. I have cramps every day, they are MUCH worse with AF.
