I am on the pill, and usually I don't have cramps or very little when I have AF. However, this month I have been extreme ovary pain and extreme cramps. Sometimes the pain is on side and when I sneeze or cough its 100x worse. Now, I just have terrible cramps that are tiring me out and I can't even function. I have taken all kinds of pain meds and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what this is from? and what I can do about it? Thanks all...

The only time I've ever had severe ovarian pain is when I ruptured a cyst. If you're in that much pain and nothing is helping, I would go see a doctor ASAP just to be sure it's nothing serious (and maybe to get some stronger medication if it isn't).

Ditto here. My time w/AF is so annoying, I even have vomiting and diarrhea. It's always been this bad. Whenever I mention it, my doctors don't seem alarmed. My obgyn tried to give me BC, but it makes me sick.
Some months I have severe cramps, sometimes I don't. My doctor has always just told me to take Aleve or Advil, something along those lines for pain. I've had them so bad before tho where the only thing that would touch the pain was left over Lortab (pain killer) from when I had kidney stones!
I've also had ruptured cysts, and while they hurt in the same area, its a different pain for me. Cramps you can definitely feel it cramping up like a muscle in your leg. Well, maybe not *just* like that, but you get the idea. With a ruptured cyst, over the counter stuff does *nothing* for me.

You could have endometriosis...I do. It wasn't always bad...suddenly started and got worse and worse. Most of my pain in on the lower right side. Try those thermacare wraps with lots o ibuprofin. You can get prescriptions for 600 & 800 mgs of it and it's cheaper than the store brand.

When I have severe cramps, I take excedrin and lie down with a heat pack across the abdomen area. I have Dh warm it up for me every so often when he is here, or I waddle to the kitchen to do it myself. I have one of those nack wraps with sand in it that can go in the microwave or the freezer. It works great. I also have a square bag with feed corn that works the same way. I like it because it smells like popcorn when I warm it, lol. I have heard that those disposable ones you can get work well too, but they cost too much for my wallet. I got the ones for back pain so Dh at work and he said they work fine.
When I was a teen, I just used a hot water bottle. I have almost always had yucky cramps and nausea with AF the first 1-3 days. Used to stay home from school on those days.

My Mom has told me she had severe cramps when she was younger. She didn't start her period until 16! Oddness. But she said that her dad used to make her a hot tottie, and it helped relax her and ease the pain a bit. Maybe give it a whirl, Tara. I'm seriously thinking about it next time!
