Angry crazy cholesterol, what the heck

Well, I just heard back from my GP and my cholesterol is HIGHER than it was the last time I had it checked. I haven't had fast food in a month, I cut out soda for the past 3 months, I've lost almost 10 lbs, I'm on Met and I've been eating better (less bar food and alochol).

Last time I had it tested it was high, and almost exactly like my mother's (my dad's high too). This time my total was 261. HDL = 59, LDL = 175. Of course, they preach diet and exercise, which is what I've been working on (slowly). Yes, I'm overweight, but not a ton in my opinion. Probably 25 lbs ideally.

Other than eat grass and tofu for the rest of my life, I don't know what else to do. This is really frustrating to me. Given genetics, is it anything that really can be changed enough for the DR to be happy? Any thoughts?

My cholesterol went up about 20 points after I started Met and lost 30 pounds. The only thing I can figure is that I added more protein to my diet after I learned I was IR. I have to eat protein with every meal or I get hypoglycemic, and so many protein choices have cholesterol in them. I'm on Crestor now, and it dropped my cholesterol from 236 to 141. I haven't had any side effects, except less spending money in my wallet because I have to pay for a non-generic drug!

The same happened to me to recently. I too was put on Crestor, though I'm not sure yet what my levels are now. We'll see in the fall when I go back.

Glad to hear Crestor worked for you. It brings me hope!
