Sunny, I got my crock pot at Wal-Mart for around $20. They aren't that expensive. The trick to cooking in a crock pot is adding lots of seasoning. I use basil, parsley, and garlic in just about everything. I make a lot of soups in the crockpot and let them cook all day. One of my favorite crockpot recipes is really simple, just put in a pack of fresh porkchops and pour a bottle of bbq sauce over them and add about a cup of water just to make sure that they don't cook dry. They are soooo good.

The LAST thing you want is to add a ton of salt. The best trick I've found is whenever a recipe asks for water, use broth or stock instead. Use a low-sodium variety or make your own (richer flavor, super easy to make, and it'll last for a year in the freezer). If it still doesn't meet your flavor standards, use a seasoning like Mrs. Dash before running for the salt.
Hope this helps!

I like to use Cream of Chicken or Cream of Mushroom soups on Chicken Breast or boneless pork chops and I add a little water.
Roasts you can add a can of Hunts Tomato sauce and a can of Beef Broth. It has great flavor.
I also like to use Lipton Onion Soup Mix just add the dry soup mix and add some water. Great flavor for Turkey Breast, Chicken Breast.
Good Seasonings Dry Packet Mix is also a good seasoning that you can add to meat that has a ton of flavor.
Hidden Valley Farm Ranch Dry Packet Mix is another good one to add to meats for good flavor.
Adding Frozen Seasoning Blend is another good thing for flavor. You get a bag of it in the frozen section of the grocery store it has red bell pepper, green bell pepper, onion, celery all diced up. Great to add to meats in the crockpot.
You'll get the hang of it. Try different things and adjusts seasonings and things start to taste really good and you will LOVE using your Crockpot.

all of the aforementioned ideas are outstanding....I also, when making beef or pork in the crockpot....brown the meat in a skillet....with a bunch of seasonings...onion powder, garlic powder, italian seasoning mix sometimes...season salt pepper...etc...whatever you like...then add it to the crockpot and the veggies. tomatos, stewed are great to add...aadds flaovr and liquid as well. I actually have 2 crockpots...my dbf is one of those guys who has a hard time keeping weight on and well.....I am quite the opposite. we are like jack sprat I guess....lol Anyway, keep up the good work and let me know how it goes.
