Unhappy Crying Jags?

I have been taking Zoloft for depression for several years now - I have major depression and must be on medication for the foreseeable future.

However, lately I have been noticing (past 6 months or so) that I go through cycles of having really bad crying jags - bursting out into very fierce sobbing, with little or no reason!

I am going to make a doctor appointment tomorrow to discuss this with him, but meanwhile, has anyone here experienced this sort of thing?

I am very confused as to what might be going on...

Jody-

It stinks that you are going through such emotional ups and downs right now. Don't blame yourself- it is all part and parcel with PCOS and depression.

Have you considered talking to your doc about having your medication adjusted? Quite often, doses have to be frequently adjusted and other meds might have to be added to work in conjunction with the Zoloft you are already taking. The way my doc put it to me was sometimes 1+1= 5: meaning that the right combination of drugs can make a world of difference. Maybe this is something you could discuss with your doctor. Also, are you gettting any counseling? I think meds and counseling together can sometimes make all the difference in the world.

Good luck cyster- and know that you are not alone in this- we are here for you!

Aimee

Thank you, Cysters! *BIG HUG* It helps just knowing that I'm not alone in this...I will talk to my doctor about it and see what he says...there is definitely something not right - it feels like I have PMS the entire month long!!!

Blessings to you both, and much love.

Jody, I'm sorry you are feeling badly. Maybe it is time to try something else. Your body may have built up a resistance to the Zoloft since you have taken it for a long time. Or, you may need some additional meds. Some do really well with a couple of different kinds together. Crying spells are my first sign of depression. It gets to where I just can't stop and if I'm asked why I'm crying I can't answer. Haven't a clue. It's very frustrating. I do better if I'm around people and am petrified of being alone. That's when it's at its worse. Let us know what the Dr. says. Here's hugs and wishes for a terrific appt. with some good answers. Hugs, Lendi
