Default curious and concerned.

hi, everybody
for the past week or so ive been reading up about PCOS.
i first really got concerned when browsing the internet about some abnormal traits i have.
i'm 15, and for the past couple years (since i hit puberty)
I've had abnormal hair growth (gotten electrolysis 4 times, never worked hahaha D,
body acne,
cysts,
i have issues with my weight. (even though i'm a thin girl, about 117 lbs. i have up's and down's with my weight normally)
yes, i know some of these are normal for teenagers to go through, but i'm not overreacting. i also had many other symptoms.

about a year ago i had severe period cramps that made me pass out, and wound up in the ER.
a month or 2 later i went to the OBGYN, and the doctor had said i have many of the symptoms of PCOS.
she gave me a birth control solution, but since i was having tonsilitus surgery in the future my mother didn't want to mix the meds.
Also, my mother and grandmother (on my father side) had had infertility issues. even though my mother hinted towards that it was my fathers issue, she never really came out and said it.

it really gets my bummed out that i could get infertility, i love kids. not that i want them now, or in the near future, but in general. haha

everytime i bring something up/question about an abnormality, my mom tries to sidetrack it. i think she's too afraid to have her only daughter have issues.

so, i'm just reaching out to you fine women about this, any comments would be really appreciated

Welcome to Soul Cysters. I have had PCOS for two years now. I would recommend seeeing an Endocronlogist or Reproductive Endocronlogist they specialize in hormones and PCOS. It may take awhile to find the right medication/birth control. I was on 5 different kinds before I found Yasmin. Good luck with everything you can talk to me on aim my screen name is lynaeducky!

You are so lucky that yours was found early. You may end up skipping some of the problems that us older ladies have had to deal with.

I second the recommendation to see an endocrinologist. For me and some others Metformin has been a miracle. It is a diabetes medicine that some how helps pcos. I didn't ovulate regularly or even have a period more than 2x a year before I got on it. I am losing weight and have regular periods.

I would sit your mom down and have an adult chat with her. Tell her that the problem has been diagnosed and to keep you healthy and preserve her future chance of grandchildren and a healthy happy productive life for you, you have to see as many doctors as it takes to grab ahold of this early.

Hey! I know its hard to accept and when your young like us its really scary thinking you might be infertile but not everyone with PCOS suffers from it my mum has also been diagnosed and she got told before she had me that she could never have kids but she now has 3 of us don't worry mums are just protective your mum probably is scared for you but just tell her you need her support because no one should do this alone xxx
