My endocrinologist is testing me for Cushing's Disease with the 48 Hour Dexamethosone Suppression Test. Is this the standard for women who have recently been diagnosed with PCOS with IR?

It's good your doc is testing you for that since Cushings and PCOS can share the same symptoms, but Cushings is not as common as PCOS. I think they screened me for that, and many other ladies say they were.

You have a good doctor. While it's not 'standard' to test for Cushing's in most offices, it SHOULD be.

PCOS is a diagnosis of 'exclusion', so in theory doctors should 'exclude' Cushing's as a cause of a woman's pcos/cushing's-like symptoms.
