Talking Cushing's Syndrome

GOOD NEWS!

My doctors office just called me, the nurse said my test for Cushing's Syndrome has come back as normal. She told me that because of stress it can cause for the test to come out normal but that they would like to see my results be a little lower. The doctor is requesting that I come back in 1 month for another test but everything looked good for now. I will continue on my track to get better from all of the side affects of PCOS. Happy Valentines Day to me I could not ask for anything more than such good news. Roses don't compare! I kept my faith and God protected. It was a long weekend of concern but I am going to be alright! Plus I will hopefully be able to sleep tonight. Thank you to everyone who has been concerned!

Congrats on being Cushing's free!!!

They tested me for Cushing's too, before they decided it was all PCOS. The first time my OB/GYN and Internist saw me they both thought I looked like a textbook Cushing's case, but everything came back normal in those labs, thankfully.

Not that PCOS is a great thing to live with, God knows, but it's a lot easier to treat than Cushing's! Luckily since I've been on the Met (about 3.5 months now) I've started losing the weight and the stretchmarks on my legs and belly have begun to fade, and I don't like so "Cushingoid" anymore.

Default Cushing's is a scary thought!

I was so scared but glad to know that I am in the clear. I am now taking metaformin and it makes me feel really bad but I am trying to stay on it because I know it is the best thing for what I have. Any thoughts on how to make the stomach achs get better?

Talking Met=Nasty Stomach fireworks!

Man, when I first went on the Metformin (1000mg a day) I was sick every time I ate or drank ANYTHING. There were even a couple times when I almost didn't get to the bathroom, if you catch my drift. It was awful!! Finally I went back to my endocrinologist about it, and they took me off the generic version and put me on Fortamet, which goes down easier. They also put me on 500 mg/ day until I had gone several weeks without any major upsets. I recently went up to 1000 mg on the Fortamet, and so far no problems!

As far as avoiding them other than changing meds/ dosage- it seemed that foods that were starchy, sugary, or greasy just made it that much worse. The blander the food, the happier my stomach was. And roughage was just that- rough!!

Hang in there- it will get better in time, I promise, and it's helped me start losing weight at last so it's worth it!
