Default Cycle Buddy

Hello all!

I have just finished my first round of Prometrium and just started AF. I will be starting my first round of clomid on Thursday. Just looking for a buddy to go through the process with. I am so nervous and excited all at once.

Hi Christine

I will be starting mine too. Although this cycle is a "test" to see if I respond to clomid. I'm around here during the week and sometimes on the weekend if you would like to talk.

DeeAnn--

I was so glad that you replied!! How do they go about testing to see if it works? Have you tried clomid in the past? What mg are you on? Like I said earlier this is my first round. I am on 50mg tablets. My husband and I have been TTC for almost 2 years with no luck so we finally decided to try it with a little help. I just finished my first round of Prometrium. That was an experiance. Well anyhow I hope to hear from you. Thanks again for responding.

I am taking 50 mg. My Dr. isn't really doing the testing, I am. I went in Tuesday and he said to wait on this cycle since it had been 2 years since I had a period but I already had the Clomid. So I just want to monitor with BBT and OPK to see if I ovulate. If I don't then I want to get bumped up in mg or try something else. My husband has zero count so we are using donor sperm. Since we are paying for everything out of pocket I want to make the most of it and I also see no reason to waste the little swimmers.

Sure you can be a cycle buddy as well. I am so sorry to hear about your loss in December. M/C is one of me and my husband's greatest fears. I am glad to hear that you are trying again. How has the provera been for you. I have heard that the side effects are even worse than prometrium. I am so excited about my first round of clomid as well. Maybe we will be lucky and be some of those women that get prego on the first try.
Baby dust to you--

DeeAnn--

Did you have af before starting the clomid? I had not had a period in a year and started the prometrium to induce it. I asked the dr if I could just go ahead and start the clomid but she said it would not work effectively. I totally understand not wanting to waste those swimmers though--from what I hear the process is very expensive. Are you starting the clomid today? Keep me posted and good luck.

I am also glad to hear you are trying again. I haven't experienced a m/c but you are my hero for trying again so soon. I am afraid of it happening too and I don't know if I would be able to try again after something like that. You know getting your hopes up just to be let down sort of thing.

Oh I missed your post Christine.

I started Prometrium to induce AF. I am on CD5 and starting Clomid today. This is the first one in 2 years. Thats why the Dr. wants to wait. Next month after AF visit I am having an ultrasound around day 6-7 to check my lining. If it is too thick I need to have a biopsy before we proceed with everything else. He made it sound as if it wouldn't be a big thing though and I could continue with the Clomid and IUI as scheduled. Years and years ago after my daughter I tried Clomid once for 3 months. Other than one ultrasound to check folly growth I never did anything to know if I ovulated or not besides BDing. I didn't get pregnant so thats why I wanted to test this cycle and not to mention its a cheaper risk than using spermies too. The IUI process is costly but not like IVF. Cross my fingers we don't get to that point as I believe we will only be able to do one IVF cycle if at all.

DeeAnn--

I am praying that things work out for you and it doesn't get to the point of being too expensive. It doesn't seem fair that marriages that are challanged with conceiving have to spend so much. When you were on clomid last time do you remember what days in your cycle that you ovulated? I bought an ovulation detection kit and you can test for 7 days with it. I was wondering how long after finishing clomid I should start testing. Anyhow good luck to you. Keep me posted.

Baby Dust,

Thanks Christine. Hopefully the future holds something positive. I don't remember what day I thought I ovulated. For some reason I want to think I had the ultrasound on CD15 but it was a long time ago. The nurse in my Dr.'s office suggested using OPKs starting CD11 and to use early morning urine BUT not the first morning urine. The first morning urine has too many hormones. I am going to look for OPKs and a thermometer tonight after work. What brand do you use?

DeeAnn--

With this being my first round of Clomid this is my first time with the OPK also. I have talked with several women and many of them suggested the Clear Blue Easy test which is what I got. I had one girl tell me that she bought the microscope that you actually reuse to look at saliva each day. It was like $20. I asked her if it worked for her but she was not ovulating so she was not really sure. Well if they told you to start testing on CD11 while starting clomid on day 5 than i should probably start testing on CD 9. Oh by the way--I don't know if you have a Meijer store near you but they had the Clear Blue Easy OPK on sale for $14.99. Good luck!

Baby Dust!!

I haven't heard from you in awhile. I am hoping things are going well. Hopefully not too many side effects from the clomid. Did you go in for your monitering? Any eggs? Keep me posted.

Sorry, I'm still here. Things get really hectic for me on the weekends. My husband and I own a self service dog wash and weekends are the busiest.

I'm feeling pretty good except for a minor meltdown Saturday night. Husband chalks it up to hormones. I'm sure it wasn't the clomid...just PMS hormones. I felt slightly crampy last night on the way home. Hopefully everything is gearing up down there.

I started temping yesterday and I am headed to the store tonight for the Clear Blue Easy tests. I went to a couple of store but couldn't find anything on sale...guess I'll go to Walmart. They are usually the least expensive around.

So any news on you yet? I know you were going to start testing on CD9.
