It doesn't make a huge difference, but I usually class the day that af arrives as cd1, unless she arrives late at night (i.e. after I've normally gone to bed) or is only spotting, then I'd class the next day (or the day she is no longer spotting) as CD1. The range of time you can start to take soy (or clomid) varies anyway. Some start on CD 1, 2, 3 or 4, so it doesn't really seem to matter at long as you take it for the recommended number of days.
