Does anyone know anything about cycles after BCP??
I've heard that your body gets used to cycling on BCP so will continue to cycle kind of the same for a few months before the PCOS symptoms get a chance to come back full force. Other women have said that if you're going to be regular, it's going to happen right away.
I've had what seems to be fairly regular cycles after BCP (though they were NEVER regular before). I'm wondering if I need to prepare myself for them to go away... Or if I can somehow count on them being somewhat normal? maybe?
What do you think?

Thanks for the advice, ladies!! I didn't have regular periods before. Sometimes they'd be every two weeks (with AF lasting 5-7 days of that 2 weeks), other times I'd go 6-8 weeks between AF. Longest I ever went was a year.
So far so good. I cycled once at 32 days and this cycle may be even tighter. I hope it stays that way!!

I just got off BCP yesterday and am wondering how all this will affect me. I am getting married in 11 days and we want to start trying right away! I am hoping I will get AF and that it will be a regular occurence! You have given me a little hope! Thanks!
I would start charting if I were you. I had a 32 day cycle, then a 29 day cycle. But, as you can see, now I'm on CD 27 with no O. I've also gained 15 lbs since going off of them 3 months ago and haven't changed anything about my diet. I hate to be a party pooper Just letting you know....

I was wondering that too. Before BCPs I could go years without a period. I stopped taking them early december as we are TTC and last week my period arrived and was very heavy for three days then abruptly stopped.

Diagnosed 1996 Irregular AF - TTC IBS & Reflux Loads of damn hair Hello efexor my old friend......geez we meet again after two years apart!
I have been off birth control since October and my periods have came every month. My cycles are not every 28 days but at least they are coming on their own. They have ranged from 25-31 days.
I find it easier if I put it on a calendar and of course you can make less noticeable if you don't want people knowing what your doing. Since its just my husband and I put when I start and when I stop, but I also add if I have clots and what my flow is like. That way when you go to the doctor and they ask about that then you have the information.
Good luck.

I went off my BCP in September, had two great 28 day cycles then last month it was 48 days! Of course, I thought I was pregnant and got excited, then AF showed up. My doctor just prescribed me Provera to use if AF doesn't show up after a 30 day cycle. I hope I don't have to use it this month.
I got off BC cause we're TTC, as of the end of October. I got AF on the exact day I was supposed to in Nov, but since then have not stopped bleeding! It's been 6 weeks straight. My Dr. has put me on Metformin for the past 2 weeks, but the bleeding has not yet stopped. Anyone else out there in the same boat?
