Default cyclical candidiasis?

Ok so for several months I have been getting yeast infections after day 14ish of my cycle. For a little while I was thinking that maybe my BF was passing it back and forth to me but I am noticing a true trend here. And so I looked up yeast infections and ovulation and found this site: http://www.thevbook.com/chapter10.html. I was reading through it and found this:
Quote:
Other women experience yeast only during a certain part of the menstrual cycle (cyclical candidiasis) but not at any other time.
Quote:
To live and grow in the vagina, yeast also has to have estrogen around. Candida albicans has a protein on it that makes estrogen stick to it, and the cells of the vaginal lining have a protein that makes candida stick to it.4 In addition, estrogen directly stimulates candida to switch from the yeast form that hangs out in the vagina, the spores, to the form that invades the vaginal cells and causes symptoms, the hyphae.5 (I wish Mother Nature had hooked yeast to testosterone instead, don't you?) The estrogen-yeast connection explains a lot. It's why young girls prior to puberty don't have yeast infections and why postmenopausal women not on hormone replacement therapy seldom do. These individuals have very low levels of estrogen in their bodies. The estrogen-yeast relationship may also explain yeast infections that occur during the second half of the menstrual cycle (cyclical candidiasis). In a 28-day cycle, with day 1 being the day menstruation begins, day 14 is the time of ovulation. Estrogen is at high levels from day 13 to day 23, then declines steadily. Yeast often flares up with the high estrogen levels after ovulation, then backs off as menstruation begins and estrogen levels have dropped to their lowest.
I was like OMG THAT IS ME!!! And since I have it, maybe others do too. So I am wondering does anyone else experience this? What do you do to control it? DId you switch diet? Do you take meds or still have to take meds for it? Did you just change something on your own or did you consult a dr? I am desparately looking for help. I know I should talk to my dr but I really dont have the money right now to go. So if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I've posted this elsewhere, but in case you still need an answer I take Acidophilus Pearls by Enzymatic Therapy to control yeast irritation. One pill a day is all it takes. You can get them at natural food stores and probably online. I have messed with creams in the past but they've never worked. You don't have to take them consistently for them to work(at least in my experience) so you could probably take them just at those certain times during your cycle. They run about $15 for a 3 month supply. Hope this helps!

I've read before that yeast problems can be hormone related. They can also be sugar/diabetes related. Or heat/humidity related. Yours definitely seems to be related to your cycle & hormones. I second the notion of looking in a health foods store for a dietary supplement that may help you with this problem. I'm on one called Yeast Defense, and I also take a probiotic supplement (has more of the live cultures than a cup of yogurt can give you).

I don't get a yeast infection every month, but I'll get them a couple months in a row, and then not for a while. My Dr. has never offered anything to really help other than diflucan which fixes the infection, it is not "preventative maintenance". I'd rather try to not get an infection to start with!

I had a yeast infection for a long time. nothing got rid of it for long, turns out some of it was enviromental. anyhow in the meantime I took a suplment that had sulfer in it. it worked. a homeopath doctor (yep a real DR) suggsted it and I was willing to try anything. I still take it, only now its for the mood swings that the first try with the stuff "fixed". He suggested that I had a major over run of candidsis throuout my body and the stuff I was taking must have realigned my bodies chemicals. He said he had only heard of that happening once and it was with a lady who was pcos or something like that. gofigure!
