Unhappy Cyst on my shoulder..do you have any?

I hate it! I can't wear anything sleeveless or get a massage. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't, and it's getting bigger.

Darn PCOS!

Could it be a really big skin tag? I had one once right at the place the elastic from my underpants went around my thigh. If I caught it wrong, it would really hurt.

What does the doctor say?

I have a large cyst buried deep in my thigh. It's the size of a large marble; you can't see it from the outside because it's so deep, but you can definitely feel it. I've had it for years. My endocrinologist called it a sebaceous cyst (sp?), and didn't seem to think it was related to the PCOS. More of a sweat gland that got clogged up somehow. He also felt it was benign and didn't need to be removed, as that would require fairly serious surgery to go that deep.

Default boil?

I think what some of you might be describing is a boil. I get them in certain places too - sometimes they remain deep under the skin and never come to the surface. Sometimes, however, they do come out and boy are they painful! They can be very dangerous, especially if they burst and the pus travels throughout your bloodstream. I once had one on my shoulder blade, went to the doctor after it burst because it hurt so badly, and they immediately sent me to a surgeon's office! WOW - was I surprised! They were quite concerned because it was so close to my heart! So, be very careful with these. My doctor told me to NEVER lance them or attempt to burst them on your own using pins, etc...The only thing he felt I should do is use hot, hot, hot compresses...as hot as you can stand. Do this 15 minutes every hour (how is this possible, I know!) and that is the safest way to speed them along.

Also, once I started on metformin and yasmin, they disappeared! I have suffered from these for more than 15 years, so this was indeed a miracle to me. If I overindulge in sugar or carbs, I can feel the rumblings of one way beneath the skin...another reason for me to be good! Hope this helps...AmyK
