Question Cyst on ovaries

Hi Cysters...

Well i shouldn't be surprised i guess.. since i was diagnosed with PCOS after all.. but i am worried

7 weeks ago, went for routine pelvic US, and they discovered a cyst on my left ovary, then wanted a re-test in approx 6 weeks. I went yesterday, the tech said it was still there, and i forgot to ask her if it had grown or not...

what is the usual course of action, for a cyst???

any information would be appreciated.

We are going thru the same thing. I went for an ultrasound and dr. found a cyst (rather larger) on my left ovary. I have to go back in 6 weeks to see if it has shrunk, if not she wants to remove it. Why don't you call her back to see if she can tell you if it has shrunk. Did you feel any paid with your cyst? I did not, which is unusual because I have in the past. The only way I knew that something was up was that I was spotting alot.

thanks ..

I only went for my test yesterday, so will have to wait till next week to know if it has gone down, staid the same, or became larger...

my next question is : if it needs to be removed, how is it removed?

The last time that I had a cyst removed it was done thru the belly button with a laser. Very painless. Outpatient. I only missed 1 days work. I would like for my dr. to remove it. but remarkably I have stopped spotting. I am curious to see what my "monster cyst" looks like now.

I have lots of smaller sized cysts on both my ovaries and right now the doctor isn't doing anything with them. I guess it all depends on your doctor, the size and how many there are. Good luck!

My doctor found a very large one on me a couple of years back, she said it had to have been there for a while. Surgery was the course of action. Very fast healing time and very little pain. Mine was 8cm diameter. I have had 1 or 2 more after that. They burst. My doctor said bcp can regulate that, it stops you from ovulating so you dont get cysts. I didnt take the bcp. She prescribed Loestrin24, I havent read anything good about that stuff.

I have all dffrent sized cysts all over both sides (looks like several peral neckless wraped around them.) My Dr does not even care about them and that is one of my only systems so far of the PCOS, so I would just wait and see what the Dr says if it does not hurt. But if it does call your Dr, it should burst on its on and the pain gets bad there but you deal, (I have at least 1 burst everytime I get my cycle, which lucky for me is only 4 times a year, Thank you Dr.) But dont worry if it does not bother you.

:Hugs cyster:

I have many small cysts so I haven't had to deal w/ the big ones. BCP can sometimes help w/ the cysts, but I agree, you should take one that isn't going to "work against" you as far as the PCOS goes. I've taken both Ovral and Lo/Ovral and they both worked fine for me.

I do occasionally have cysts burst, lots of pain on the day it happens and then I'm sore for a couple days afterward.

Hope you feel better, let us know what the gyn says.

And MStrecker, welcome to Soulcysters!

Hugs
Jenny

Hi, I just posted a question about this a minute ago, I didn't see this thread. I am going through the same thing. I had an u/s 2 weeks ago and then today they called me back today and said that I should come back in 6 weeks. This scared me at first because I have had cysts but never told to come back in 6 weeks. I called and asked the nurse why they wanted to see me again and she told me that sometimes in 6 weeks they go away by themselves but if not the cysts were large and would probably have to be removed. Now I just have to wait. I have never had one removed. Do they remove the cysts usually if they are large, even if they are not really causing any problems.

Ashlea,
Sorry for the problems you're having w/ your cysts. I only have the small ones, so no experience w/ what they do for the bigger ones. I have talked to some cysters who have had a cyst shrink on bcp.

Hope you feel better
Jenny
