I just wanted to say hi to everyone from the UK and Ireland. I was recently dx with PCOS and just found this forum this week. It's been so nice to have some of my questions answered and to know I'm not alone.
I probably won't post often, but I know that I'll be here lurking a lot. I just can't believe the information available.
Hi Mary,
I am a student at Liverpool Uni and I'm living in Everton at the moment.
How are you finding the doctors? I had my first appointment with an endocrinologist at the Royal last month after months of nagging my GP. they were not very helpful though, I had lots of blood tests etc I was hoping to be prescribed met as I think I am IR. They spent 10 mins with me and said I needed more tests before they could do anything and I would get a letter to go back in a few months. I went home and got a letter to go back at the end of May! I am a final year student and will be finishing Uni in May so I'm hoping I'll still be around to see the endo again or I'll have to go though all this again when I move back to London!!
Anyway, this is a great place for support and to have your questions answered, hope you find it useful.
Take care.
The doctors have been really great. I was referred to the women's hospital by my GP so I'm just seeing a gyno instead of a endo. I think it's because my husband and I hope to start a family in the near future.
I've seen the doctor twice. First time was for tests and the last time was to get the results and he's put me on Met and Provera. I started to take the Met, but stopped because i'm on antibiotics and wasn't sure if it was ok to take together. I'll start back up over the weekend. I'll start the Provera at the same time. To be honest I'm a bit worried about having a period again it's been that long.
I hope you do make your appointment. Sometimes the waiting seems worse than the PCOS. It would be awful to have to start the process again in London.
