This is nothing that needs attention now, but just something I was going to throw out there.
I was just noticing how many cysters I came across today that have used their first and last name for their username. I did a little experiment and within five minutes had the address and phone number of a cyster who did this.
I logged out and started the re-registration process, just to see what new cysters see when registering.
Before entering their chosen username, the following directions are given:
"In order to be able to post messages on the PCOS Message Board forums, you must first register. Please enter your desired user name . . . below."
Is there some way to include in the directions (perhaps in big bold letters) for them not to use first or last names, or email addresses, or any other personal info that that identifies them to others?
Granted, there are going to be those that ignore it, but I would think this way there wouldn't be as many appealing to you to change their usernames once they realize the implications of giving out that sort of personal info.
Just throwing it out there. I know that discussion boards are usually a shell of sorts that can only be *tweaked* so much, so it might not be doable (sp?), but if so, perhaps it would save you a bit of trouble.
One can only hope. |
