I've never had cystic acne in my life, not even as a teenager. I'd get the occasional minor breakout, or a large zit before my period...but wow... ever since I've been having screwed up periods I broke out in actual cysts on my face.
Five large ones on my chin, and one on my cheek that was so large the other day I considered going to the emergency room.
I'm assuming this occured because Aunt Flow decided to visit me after being absent for 4 months.
I thought, "Wow, if the cysts on my face are this horrible...I wonder what the cysts on my ovaries are like."

Hows your diet look? are you drinking enough water? are you taking in daily vitamins? is there something essential you need that you arent taking? Feed your temple and your temple will reflect that nourishment.
My cystic acne is also out of control.. It started in July when I got of BCP and now I have them on my chest, neck, back, etc.. They hurt, are ugly, and pi$$ me off. I am using topical treatments and drinking tons of water... Nothing seems to help.

I sure know what u mean. I have been going through that for the last few months I had a bout 20 large ones at one time. On thanksgiving I stayed in depressed all day and there has been other social events that I didn't attend because of the acne. Thanks to god it is much better. I have been using proactive and 100mg of spiro. I don't know which one is playing the biggest role but I am just glad that it is finally almost gone i currently I one big one on my chin. Now I have to get rid of these black marks they left behind.
I call the huge ones on my neck, face, and back volcanos.. Eventually, they erupt and it isn't nice or fun.... Acne stinks : (

I would get a large, deep, painful blemish usually the week I ovulate and it would take days to come to a head, if at all. I've even tried to force them to come up just to relieve the pressure which usually turns them into worse looking cuts. But since I have been on the Metformin, 500 3x/day, they have all but vanished and I only get one occassionally.
I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this, but sad at the same time. I got off of BCPs in May and it took until October for the acne to become out of control. My back is horrendous - I can't wear anything that reveals any portion of it, and at times so is my neck and the top of my chest. Thank goodness turtlenecks are ok this time of year - I just wish they covered my chin also. I've been trying all of the usual stuff - washing my face 2x/day, using a topical Benzoclin solution, drinking water... but alas, I am horrified every time I walk by a mirror. What makes it worse is that I'm certain I have PCOS, but my doctor is taking his sweet time passing along that dx and putting me on appropriate meds. My LH:FSH ratio was almost 5:1!!
Glad I'm not alone with this... I've never had a real issue with acne, just a pimple or two just before my period, but this month has been CRAZY! I think I get them really bad when I ovulate. Hmmm... Definitely something to pay attention to for patterns.
You guys are not alone, i had cystic acne all over my face as a teen, going on the bcp reduced them to small bumps all over. if i stay low carb my face stays pretty clear, but i still get them, after going off yasmin because of heart problems, i had pretty clear skin for a while then , i went on desogen to try to clear up and it seems to have made me worse? can bcp really make acne worse. everywhere i read says it helps acne.

... and here I was thinking I was the only one with an acne problem..... grrr.
It is the one thing I hate about my body - the acne on the face, neck, chest and back. I hate summer time cause i cant wear anything open - bring on winter!
One thing I do know is that being on the BCP hides the acne really well. So when you come off it, its not the pill thats made it worse, rather it was hiding the acne in the first place. So for women like us, we lose the beauty in order to get preggers - a catch 22 really.
I spoke to my endo about this and asked if there was anything I could take to get rid of the acne whilst ttc - he was adamant that there is nothing that was "safe" to take. Are there any girls out there that do know of something natural that works or have taken meds whilst preggers? Ive tried all the creams and lotions and potions, they dont work, even tried proactiv and was allergic to the benzyl peroxide in it! Grrrr you can image how p***ed i was
Hopefully we can share some good points so that we can all benefit from this annoying disgusting ugly side of womanhood.....
Now I have one on the side of my neck and it feels like a big red knot!!! I wish they would just go away.
