Default Cysts disapeared?

I am very curious about something. Last year I had a follie scan, just to confirm my PCOS diagnosis for my RE. I had 15 cysts on one ovary and around 20 on the other, with the ring of pearls. Recently I had an ultrasound in the ER for bleeding at 16 weeks in pregnancy. I asked her to check my ovaries and she did, she said they looked amazing, and showed me, I had 4 immature folicles on one ovary and that was it! WTF? Where did these other 35 go that i had before? I was on the pill for 6 months, and then on a 2 month hold with normal AF before i got my bfp, but does that explain them disapering? I have had tons of bleeding prior to 16 weeks pregnancy too, could they all have just bursted? I am just curious if anyone has had this happen to them? TIA

From what I understand, it is common for the cysts to come and go. I have had many u/s over the years, some with cysts and some without. Definitely the BCP's probably contributed to them going away. Anytime I go on BCP's the cysts clear up.

I’ve been off/on BCP several times. I only have cysts off of BC.

I think the premise is (please correct me if I write this incorrectly) is that the cysts (I’m talking the normal cysts that the ovaries create) form to produce eggs. In PCOS, the eggs do not fully mature and lack the hormone to ovulate, therefore they become (abnormal, the pearl like) cysts.

When you take birth control it prevents maturation of eggs which prevents ovulation, so you can’t get pregnant.

If your body isn’t allowing the “normal” cysts to form for the egg release, then you don’t run the chance of them turning into cysts (not normal cysts in this case).

I have a large cyst now, 37 mm on my left ovary. I have been put back on BCP to shrink the cyst. I'm now exploring dietary ways to control the cysts. Already, I do not eat sugar or white flour. But, now I'm reading that I should cut out dairy. **yikes**

The "OK" (if that's such a term) cysts come and go. It's the ones that stay around and are solid that are a major concern.

In 2003 I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had an ultrasound then and there were cysts that appeared like the 'strands of pearls' description all over my ovaries.

This past month I've had two ultrasounds and only 3 cysts were present. My right ovary is completely cyst free. My doctor didn't really give much of an answer when I asked how they disappeared. My testosterone levels are low now, when it used to be high. My estrogen is a little high, but it used to be low.

The only changes I've made are losing some weight (70 lbs) and I haven't touched fast food in over two years because I can't digest gluten. I started eating more organic foods and avoid high fructose corn syrup like the plague. I walk and ride my exercise bike and sometimes do pilates. My method of birth control is Implanon (little rod put under my skin on my arm).

The ultrasound tech said that she doesn't see very many women my age (36) with the typical polycystic ovaries, it's usually women in their 20's.

I'd like to get pregnant soon, but am still wary because I need to lose more weight.
