Points: 13,093.26 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 13,093.26 | Cytomel vs Synthroid I recently met a lady who had been on Synthroid for eight years and it never seemed to benefit her, at least from what she could tell, so she convinced her endo to put her on something else. She's on Cytomel now & she says the results are amazing, she's lost almost 30 lbs effortlessly.
I know that everyone's body chemistry is different and they react differently to medication, but I have been on Synthroid for several months now and think I feel worse than better.
I went to my endo to request being switched to Cytomel and am currently awaiting my latest T3 bloodwork to come back so they can say yes or no.
Has anyone been switched and if so what results have you seen, positive or negative, when put on Cytomel? |

I never thought about it but being on both would make sense if both your T3 and T4 needed to be balanced. From what I understand, Synthroid balances T4.
I have no idea what my levels are, I really should find out. |

I take a combo drug myself, as do lots of ppl... it's more common to take a combo drug than to take just cytomel (t3). I'd suggest you attempt a combo drug before switching to T3 only.

My Mood: Points: 8,434.21 Bank: 602.11 Total Points: 9,036.32 | I am on synthroid and cytomel. My doctor said we could try both even though he didn't think it would make a difference either way.
I haven't seen any dramatic changes like weight loss. That sure would have been nice! But I don't feel any worse. I think my hypo symptoms seem a little better now that I'm on both for almost a year. |

Points: 13,093.26 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 13,093.26 | My endocrinologist decided to put me on Cytomel and continue me on Synthroid at my 3 month visit yesterday. It's really kind of frustrating because I had a visit about a month ago simply because I wanted to see if he would consider this. They had done more bloodwork and nobody called.
Only my describing how terribly fatigued I've been seemed to get his attention, and he asked the same questions he has before. I honestly believe he cannot recall what I've been there for in the past.
Maybe it is time for me to find an endo who is less busy, but in this day and age when diabetes is affecting the population so badly I wonder if there is such a thing!
However, I hope that the Cytomel will improve how I feel. I've read where some people said they couldn't tell a difference and heard from others who say they felt 100% better.
Any experience with taking both drugs anyone? |
