Default D & C

I have a question. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago. I have been trying to get pregnant but still no luck. I have only had about 7 periods in my entire life. I am 30 years old. I got depressed and stopped taking the medicine to get pregnant. I just recently started taking it. My dr. had me on Provera to have a period then the usuall clomid. Well I had the period took the clomid but then started bleeding heavily again. I woke up and was covered in blood and clots. I passed out 3 times that morning before my family could get me to the hospital. My H and H was 7.2. They admitted me and gave me 2 units of blood. My bleeding stopped of course after I got to the hospital. I was released the next day with my H and H being 9.2. I started bleeding again a week later but went to the hospital when I felt the slight feeling of passing out and sick to my stomach. Well they told me that my H and H was 9 so they again admitted me and gave me 2 units of blood. but was I don't understand is that when they let me out the next day my H and H was only 9.6. Where did the blood go. I stopped bleeding again after being at the hospital for only a short period of time. I just got out on Sunday the 16th of Dec. I went to my Gyn. and she told me that I should have a D and C I am worried. I'm not bleeding now but she said that I would start back if I didn't have this done. I was wondering if anyone had any information. I have this done tomorrow. She told me that it can also help my chances in getting pregnant. She said it was like my uterus would be starting all over. I never ovulate even after taking the clomid so I'm wondering if this is true. I am scared to have this done. Most people that I have talked to say that its not that bad. I'm afraid of bleeding again. Maybe during and lose way too much blood. I'm still not myself. I get tired just walking to the bathroom and even a little light headed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I can't speak from personal experience about the actual procedure, but I've had several friends who have had a D&C due to miscarriages, and all of them were able to get pregnant very quickly after the procedure. In all of their cases, they each had trouble conceiving before and after the D&C it was like magic. Their doctor told them that it was starting with a clean slate. Removing all of the old tissue that may have not caused the egg to implant correctly the first time around. This didn't have anything to do with ovulating from what I understand.

Good luck. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Hugs. I have had a D&C, but it was after losing a baby (didn't actually ever lose the baby, it died in utero, so that is why I had to have the D&C). I will be honest with you about it, if you have any specific questions. The procedure itself was not bad at all (if you take out all the emotional parts of actually losing a baby). I did not have any pain after the procedure and only bleed very lightly for a day or so afterward. If you have any questions about anything specific, I will try to answer them.

Good luck and welcome to SC, this is a great resource to have.

I am sure you will have the option of being virtually asleep for the procedure which will take about 10 mins. Its more a sedation and not a general but for most people it is like you are asleep and you don't remember it.

People who take drugs such as pot etc.. find the sedation does not work as well and they can wake up slightly and feel and remember more.
