Has anyone had to have a D&C (dilation & curettage) because of a thick uterine lining? My doctor is recommending one for me, but I don't feel it's necessary after researching it. Has anyone else's doctor recommended it to them, and did you or didn't you have it done?
how thick is your lining? mine was 1 cm thick and my dr gave me provera to induce a period. depending on how thick it is, I'd ask if some noninvasive options first, like provera, would be better for you in your situation, and see if they work before going ahead with the D & C.
I've had a D&C but not related to a thick lining. I'm a bit surprised they would do all that for that reason alone. Provera is always a good option to induce menses and shed that layer. If you're nervous about the D&C process itself, it's like you're awake one minute, not the next, and awake again with no clue what just happened. There generally speaking is minimal bleeding after. But it does have certain risks involved as it is invasive. I would speak to your MD to see if the risks outweigh the benefits and if another method of inducing menses is better for you.

Thank you so much! I decided I want to make an appt. to talk to my doctor about the alternatives, like provera, because I don't want something so invasive if it's not 100% necessary. Thanks again!
