Default D&C Hospital vs Dr Office

So I still haven't seen af since 10/07 just finished a 10 day supply of Provera last week and nothing. So I called the Dr.s office and the Nurse told me that she would talk to the Dr and see if he wants to do the D&C in the office or the hospital. I had a D&C back in 01/05 and that Dr did it in the office. So my question is what would be the difference between doin it in the office and doin it in the hospital? It's bad enough I have to get this done again but I really and I mean really hate hospitals. Just wondering if anyone would know why they would choose the hospital over the office? Could it be that there is more "removal" that needs to be done in the hospital or what? Just curious

Thanks

I just had one in the hospital two days ago....I couldn't imagine doing it with just a local anestheti!? Hospital treated me well, but i am still a little weirded out by the whole experience. I kinda wish I could have been awake for it....call me gross but I would have liked to have seen what was removed. All well, I hear I get to see the pics taken inside the uterus at my follow-up in two weeks.

yea the first one i had was in the Dr's office and noone bothered to tell me to bring someone to drive me home so when I got there and they found out I didnt have a ride I got 3 ibuprofens and the local and was awake for the whole thing. It was and experience I will never forget as I was awake the whole time. Although I didnt want to check out what they removed lol that stuff makes me queasy. I was wondering if they would do the hospital thing so they could knock me out?! I'm not sure just wondering! I hope you're doin better from your d&c!

Thank you, I am. That was the weirdest experience. Not that I would want to be awake for it...but I would have been interested in seeing what came out. weird I know. That was the first time I had been under general anesthesia....I remember sliding over to the operating table...still crying...they put the mask over me, tried soothing me and told me to take a few deep breaths. I remember seeing the assistant snap on a glove as she walked by and I started freaking out thinking I was going to be awake for the whole thing...but the next thing I know I'm coming to in the recover room and being told it was over....All I could think was "Your lying!" I had a small amount of cramping and was given some morphine...but I've had no pain since.

Before the procedure I was shaking, sweating, vomiting, in horrible agonizing pain for days before it. I had been cramping and on my period for about a month. I hadn't had a period in 6 months and had just started taking Yaz...so I expected the first period on it to be long and heavy...but when the horrible pain hit I knew something was really wrong. I go to Dr. Allon in Houston and he is just wonderful....staff not so much...but he is great.

I had mine in the hospital under general anesthesia about 6 weeks ago. I could not imagine doing it in a doctor's office! No way would I have wanted to be awake for that

I'd go for the hospital, it may be scary but I would think you would have better care there.

The hospital will cost more, of course. It will take longer as well. Plus if you are afraid of hospitals then that could be an issue for you. On the flip side, if something goes wrong, it would be better to be at the hospital. It could also be more sanitary.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the Doc wants to do. The other reason I'd rather do in the the Drs office is because it would be cheaper, no admitting to the hospital and all that fun crap. Guess we'll wait and see. I'll just be glad when its over.

Happy Friday Cysters!!!

I worry about cancer just because its been so long since AF came and I couldnt get any Dr's to listen to me that it wasnt normal. And still here I sit with no AF. When I went in the last time and had the u/s the Dr said he couldnt understand why i hadn't had a period yet. And I thought well thats funny I can't either?!
